I still think 1805 was nothing more than a bait and hook setup. And it worked beautifully.

Maybe so, but think about this fact:

More US Senators voted for the Clinton AWB in 2004 than when it passed originally in 1994.

Not true.

1994 vote to amend the Omnibus Crime Bill with the heinous Feinstein amendment banning assault weapons. Passed 56-43

2004 vote to amend S.1805 with heinous Feinstein amendment extending previous ban another ten years. Passed 52-47

That is a four vote swing in our direction. Not as much as I'd like to see over ten years admittedly; but considering the greater swing in the House and the positive direction over all, I can live with it.
