Don't some scope rails have to be drilled and tapped themselves?

I'm not familiar with that model. Most Remington bolt-action target .22s I've seen have factory-drilled holes.
If the receiver of your rifle lacks either pre-drilled and tapped holes OR an integral dovetail mount, you definitely need the services of a gunsmith. |

GeoffM24, go to Culvers shooting page, Jouster.com(I think), and go to the small bore forum. You will probably get the help you need. Maybe even more than one option for your rifle.

I put a scope om my 511 which was about 40 yrs old. It definitely needed a gunsmith to drill and tap the holes. I sold the rifle when I got a 10/22, I wish I had it back, it was extremely accurate.

Take the gun to any local gunsmith and they will usually drill & tap the holes for about $8.00/hole. Don't get a cheap scope, the 511 is quite accurate and you will need to really see the target. BTW glue won't work because when the gun gets hot the glue will let go.
