closing the so called gun show loophole is just one of the many steps towards a nation of slaves first they ban private sales then liscening scemes then convication of all guns then well u know

Currently in Colorado it is illegal to buy a firearm from a private citizen w/o a background check at a "gun show". It is still legal to do in a back alley. One more example of a law that is all show and won't accomplish anything.

if you want to see what the future of colorado gun laws will be like just look to ca. for a example. they made a few mistakes there and it took them about 20 years to pass all of those laws. but other states have learned from that and it will take less than half that time here from the start of the gun show loophole.

Yep as soon as they prohibit the private sale of guns at shows the next argument will be "Why should private sales of guns be allowed at all when this type of sale is even prohibited at gun shows?". The hand writing is on the wall folks.

Sweep- Yeah, all those third party wasted vote threads kinda wore me out too. Being a libertarian is tough. You KNOW you are right. No one else can see it. You just beat your head against the wall. Sometimes you just gotta let it heal up.

I've been to a few gunshows around the country that try to have this backround check for all sales. It doesn't work. The dealers that aren't licensed and who are selling their personal collections just walk out into the parking lot to conduct the sale. They aren't breaking any laws that way as it is still a private sale and not being sold at a gun show.

If your congresscritter tries to tell you that new gun show legislation would not affect ordinary private sales and would only apply to "commercial gun sellers" or some such, don't buy that line. In fact, "commercial gun sellers" would be the only people at gun shows NOT affected by legislation of this type; existing federal law already requires all persons "engaging in the business of dealing in firearms" to do the background checks that they now want to extend to private sales.
My own congressman, Bart "BS" Stupak, constantly misrepresents the purpose of the gun show bill he voted for in 1999. |

Stopping the sales of guns at shows isn't their main objective. The anti-gun weenies do not want a place where gun owners can congregate, because when people assemble the begin to talk then this talk leads to organization, then finally action. It is an attack on the 1st Amendment as they want to make the gun owners feel isolated from each other.
