I just saw on a salvage auction a 2008 Chevy 2wd Silverado LT (1LT) with about 130,000 miles just go for $8300 plus auction fees. Truck has a salvaged title and needs some cosmetic work.

Just sold my 18 F150 to Carmax for 3000 more than they offered last year. Now with double the mileage, Doible

Of course it is. I'm getting a pretty decent raise at work and if things don't go totally in the toilet, I'll have the house paid off by next summer. I've been driving a 98 chevy for almost 20 years - right now I'm pretty certain the only thing holding the cab and box to the frame is gravity. First purchase after mortgage is paid off was supposed to be a new (used) truck. I average less than 60 miles a week on my truck, so it's not worth buying something even remotely new and shiny.

Its only fitting that used truck prices would skyrocket right now. It's why I don't have nice things.

My dad just sold his 2009 Tacoma with 180k miles, not in good shape at all (work truck), for $16k.  No way it was worth $7k

I sold it to him at book value 6 years ago for $11k.

tell me about it.
everything I looked at was either in excess of 200K on mileage or a complete rust bucket.
decent trucks around here are few and far betweeen. Dealerships will not budge on prices either.
I lucked out and found an 08 Avalanche from an individual with 150K miles on it for 10G's
everywhere else that had the Avalanches were quite a bit higher for roughly the same truck.

buddy of mine that runs a Harley/RV dealership offered me 12 for it and said he could put it on his lot and sell it in less than a week for 15!

RV/camper market isn't much better his sales are up 700% from last year! his inventory is almost gone, and used campers are selling like crazy and for a lot more than they should be.  new campers are leaving the lot just about as fast as they get them!

obligatory pics of new truck and camper....

Prices on non-epa-fucked diesels were already insane before shit hit the fan. You could probably get $30k for that.

The fact people will pay more than scrap value for an 07-13 Chevy with over 200k miles is insane alone.

05-06 GMs are going over $6k for clean pickups with over 200k miles.

With new and used prices being as insane as they are, guess my 220k mile pickup is going to keep rolling.

I am hoping for a price collapse soon to score a deal on a new or newer Tundra. Maybe once all the "$0 for the first 90 days of a loan or lease" get turned back in???

It's crazy.

Full retard pricing for sure.  Just sold my beater 04 Sierra diesel for 8k more than i paid for it a year ago.

Several truck plants got shut down over the beer virus,  parts companies did the same.  Demand is high, supply is low = retard pricing.

If you can, sell your stuff now and wait 6 months for manufacturing to catch up buy then.
