Here’s something a bit different in the world of auto auctions. Classic Italian sports cars or American muscle can offer some delectable eye candy, but this 1944 Dodge WC-57 isn’t what you’d call a looker. It does, however, hold a significant place in history as it was specially modified for – and used by – General George Patton and used during World War II. And it’s going up for auction soon at no reserve.
Worldwide Auctioneers will offer this significant piece of military history at its Americana Festival & Auction in Auburn Indiana, running June 12-13. This specific vehicle is presented with a well-documented history going back to the 1950s when it was acquired by a collector in Belgium. It was eventually put on display in a museum, during which it was reportedly verified that, during the war, it was assigned to General Patton’s motor pool. It was purchased as part of a collection in 2000 by Dean Kruse of Kruse Auction fame and brought stateside, where it was on display in the Kruse Foundation WWII Victory Museum for several years.

I'm not sure I'd want to own Patton's jeep, considering how he didn't do so well riding one of those.

He was in a Cadillac staff car not a jeep.

From that link: "On Friday, May 12, a Dodge WC57 equipped with these touches, but lacking specific documentation linking it to Patton, is slated to cross the block at Auctions America's Auburn sale."

Buy the gun command car, not the story.

Well documented history back to the 1950s.  Patton used it in the mid 1940s.  Provenance sounds a bit weak.

That would be a neat type of truck to have. Tool around town in that but without all of the insignia.

My dad was in Europe during those days and I think he used to call them a weapons carrier.

No a weapons carrier had a bed. The were about the size of an ambulance.

Hell that's bad ass.

I'd pay 60k if it was verified to be his.
