Bored, and want to live dangerously?

Company I've been in for 14 years is in it's death throes...got pounded by the 'Rona. They own a wall of patents on MEMS laser projection and LIDAR, and just signed an agreement with MSFT last week to transfer manufacture of the light engine in Hololens II to a royalty agreement. The next day 50M shares traded...and there are only 150M shares total for the company. Looks now like they were cleaning up for a sale/merger because...

..."MVIS-Today announced it has retained investment banking firm Craig-Hallum Capital Group LLC to serve as its financial advisor as it explores various licensing and other strategic alternatives, including a potential sale or merger of the company."

Selling this morning at .22 to .23 a share. Speculation is rampant about what a sale would bring, because potential suitors include MSFT, Apple, STM, Sony and others. Read this thread carefully to see what's going on!...and don't gamble money you can't afford to lose. A reverse-split is also still  on the table, and those almost always destroy shareholder value*.

ETA: *"destroy shareholder value" is a euphemism for "individual investor loses his shirt".

MVIS retains Craig Hallum

Full disclosure: I hold 30K shares at an .84 ASP. If they sell for a buck a share I make beer money. If it goes for $5 I make Porsche money. Point is, at .23 right now a buck sale will be a three bagger...

UPDATE: CEO just sent out a memo begging shareholders to vote "yes" on the reverse split...heavy implication is they're getting hammered by "no" votes, and the motion won't pass, or is in serious danger.

MVIS Reddit is lighting up. I won't pretend to fully understand the repercussions, but it sure is entertaining. If you have proxy voting rights, please use them and support the vote of no confidence on item 3!

Go here and do some (non-technical) Reddit reading. Emotions running high. Share is up 28% as I type.

Couldnt get into any of today's performers due to waiting for funds to become available from sale on monday.

By the time I saw GME news it was basically too late.

First thing this morning or yesterday was timing for that one.

Ohwell.

Gonna be trying to watch for whatever the next 2-3 days out stock might be.   Or getting back into ZOM if it drips some more.

Are you me? I've bought and sold GME since single digits. Last time I was in at $14 and out at $23 and change . Yesterday I put in a GTC buy at $18.50 figuring it'd pull back.

Hopefully some of the MVIS pump sticks.  ZOM volume has already dropped off to almost nothing surprisingly.  We'll have to see what price it trickles down to now that the hype has died down.

Nice to see some action on MVIS.  I debated selling at close to $7, but didn't.

I picked up more ZOM at $.95.  Thinking of holding for a while (March-ish), but will consider selling if we get a nice pop on opening again.

Bought a little GSAT earlier today, down about 15% from where I bought it.  Trying to decide if I should sell it today and be done.

Anyone else considering holding for longer?
My only issue is if I hold for another couple months I can hit those sweet long term cap gains.

I’m sure it will pop around March but possibly a climb back up since it’s an actual product and not just pump hype?

Today I bought eng and it went down 9 %.

I suck at this.

my average cost on mvis is 7.02, I made some money before, got out, got in when I thought it hit a low.... nope

My lac is up 235% thou so there is a shinning star in there somewhere

'A long-buying tsunami ... is the primary factor for the price move,' short-selling expert from S3 says

GameStop Corp. (GME) shares soared Wednesday in an apparent short squeeze, but one analyst who specializes in information on short selling doesn't think that's the case.

GameStop shares surged more than 60% Wednesday -- which would be its largest one-day percentage gain ever, according to Dow Jones data --more than a week after short interest on the videogame retailer's stock exceeded the number of shares outstanding. At last check, more than 125 million shares had traded hands in the day's session, compared with a 52-week daily average volume of 6.5 million shares.

While GameStop has 69.8 million shares outstanding, short interest on the stock rose to 71.2 million shares on Dec. 31 from a previous 68.1 million shares, according to FactSet data.

On Monday, GameStop shares finished up 10% (https://www.marketwatch.com/story/gamestops-stock-shoots-up-after-reaching-agreement-with-activist-investor-2021-01-11) after it reached an agreement with activist investor RC Ventures to add three of its members to the board, and advanced less than 0.1% on Tuesday. Also, on Monday, the company said holiday same-store sales rose 4.8% and that digital sales had jumped 309%.

While noting that shorts definitely were a part of the buying binge, Ihor Dusaniwsky -- the head of predictive analytics at financial technology and analytics firm S3 Partners, which specializes in analyzing data on short selling -- said he doesn't agree that GameStop's price surge was the result of a squeeze.

"GME's board shake-up and stronger holiday sales is causing a long-buying tsunami, which is the primary factor for the price move," Dusaniwsky said in emailed comments. "While I agree that we are seeing some shorts squeezed out of their positions due to massive mark-to-market losses today, this is much like the chicken-and-egg question -- did long buying lead to short covering\squeeze or short covering\squeeze lead to long buying?"

Dusaniwsky believes it's the former.

"We will not be seeing a massive drop in shares shorted over the next few days, more like a 10%-20% drop which would mean 7 to 14 million of shares covered, which is nowhere near the almost 70 million shares traded this morning," the analyst said. "Long buyers are the primary force driving GME's stock price up. "

GameStop shares have skyrocketed more than 500% in the past 12 months, compared with a 16% gain in the S&P 500 index and a 42% rise in the Nasdaq Composite Index .
