Hey Michael, waaassssuuuppp!!!!! welcome to the Black Rifle community. As I am new to AR15's myself I have no other resource other than the Colt website. I am more of a board nut and been dubbed the porn king around these parts. DonR, one of the moderators, from what I hear is a big fan of SP1's maybe he'll pop in this thread and shed some light. Any case welcome.

No, the model number doesn't appear on the gun, but the model number can usually be determined by the serial number.
I would go ahead and pay the $25 to get the letter from Colt, so you'll have proof of your rifle's pre-ban status. That will greatly insulate you from having a problem with the pre vs. post-ban AW laws. You might need that paperwork someday, but there's no guarentee that Colt will be able to provide it then (for example, Oly lost most records in a recent fire, and now can't verify most rifles). -Troy |

Hey there, Michael! Just wanted to take the time to welcome a new person to the site. It sure is nice to hear you have the AR15 virus! Yep, this hobby can be very contagious and addictive. Last I've heard there is no known cure. Don't need a cure anyway! [:)]
