Yes, I heard that expression. It's been around for a very long time but don't have any idea of it's origin. BobK

A slight take-off of "This is the cat's meow!"

Cat's ass just sounds more manly, even though it makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

Reminds me of a pic I saw on some porn site were some chic was propping her bare ass up like a cat does when they strut around.  There was a cat right next to her in the pic doing the same thing.  The chic had a nice twat.

1. Ackshully, "cats ass" is mentioned in The American Thesaurus of Slang as an oil field term meaning a "kink in a wire cable". I've experience with kinks in cables, and "cats ass" turns out to be a much more polite term than the ones I've heard used!

2. A GOOGLE search turns up "cats ass" being used by a lot of young people describing something they like, or think is great. "That CD is the cats ass."

3. I suggest they are using a term from their grandparent's time: "cat's meow", but adding a vulgar spin... From the resources page, SAYINGS & EVERYDAY EXPRESSIONS has this to say about that: "CAT'S MEOW---A nifty idea, thing or person.---"She's the cat's meow."---"Cat's Pajamas" "Cat's Whiskers" Since the cat has the capability of looking enormously pleased, maybe the expression came from that appearance of satisfaction."

4. The inquirer below ("Today's Slang Words") who is going to write a column on the "funny things the young people are using nowadays to trip up the old crowd" might want to expose this bit of recycling.

You might want to ask the guy having sex with the dolphins what he thinks.

It's all aboot pie holes.  Everyone has one, but a cat shoves theirs way in the air, indicating a measure of superiority.

A cats pie hole is apparently unique/grand, I guess, in that context.  They'll raise it even higher if you give them scratchies[:E].

You people are all wrong!! The phrase, as we use it today, came from the movie "The Cannonball Run". Jackie Chan says (as he flips off the Subaru's lights, and turns on the night vision)..."This infra-red is the cat's ass."

At least, that's where I know it from.
