There's a Dremel attachment available for this purpose which doesn't force you into tears. Check your box.

I heard you are not supposed to do that because of the risk of infection.

There is an urban legand out there that's how one of the Rockefeller's died - picked his nose hair, got a brain infection and died. I can't find anything on it but that's what I heard a long time ago.

The risk of infection thing makes sense.

Its a simple automatic reaction to nasal irritation. The lacrimal glands, blinking reflex, choking and nasal irritation are all interconnected. Try to sneeze with your eyes open. They automatically close to protect your eyes. Same with your tearing. When your hairs are plucked, sends a single to your brain that there is possibly an caustic material in the air and you tear to protect your eyeballs. Nature is very smart!

Very interesting. I still hate it though. Especially when I get an unusually coarse hair that grows across my nostril and tickles the other side. Arrrgghh I can't stand that.

Don't recommend the pluck...had one get real nasty. Picked up a Wahl nose trimmer at Target IIRC. Runs on an AA battery. Had to do something the older I get the hair leaves the top of my head and comes out my nose. Can't wait for it to come out my ears like Grandad.

I pluck mine sometimes. Once a hair became ingrown, got infected and zit-like. Finally was able to pop the infection and the hair came through the outside of my nose. Gross.
