I'd buy 5 Barrett M82s. I'd keep 1, and sell the other 4 to get an AR, an M1A, a shotgun, a pistol, and all the nifty add-ons for each.

To my:

20" Bushmaster
Remington 700 LTR
Glock 20

I would add:

Saiga 12

and either a 16" 1:7" 5.56 AR15 or a FAL carbine.

All of the following would be tricked out with all the fixins:

1. CAR-10(T) - .308 power, [even if I do have to use 10rd mags, every shot counts], mags interchangable with M1A and other AR-10s, ultra compact, easy to get reliable parts for, free-float barrel, FF RAS, two stage trigger, steel barrel (good & bad), & flattop.

2. AR-10A4 - .308 power, [even if I do have to use 10rd mags, every shot counts], mags interchangable with M1A and other AR-10s, long, chrome lined barrel, & flattop.

3. P99 .40 cal - with tritium & steel guiderod.

4. Winchester 1300 Defender - simple and cheap, high capacity, throw away and who cares.

5. Ruger .357 revolver - uses either .38 or .357, doesn't spit casings all over the place.  My wife wants one.

Maximum versatility from what's available today.
Had to make us think today...

1. Remington 870 Super Magnum Express 12-ga. shotgun
With extra bbls. and grip/buttstocks and any other accessories needed to fully utilize the basic platform.

2. Ruger GKGP-161 .357 revolver.
Uses .38 Spl./.357 Mag.
Can be used for self-protection and hunting.

3. Beretta NEOS .22 pistol.
Rumor has it they're coming out with a carbine kit to transform it into a rifle.
This gives you both a .22 pistol and rifle, though not at the same time.

4. Bushmaster AR15/XM15E2S.
One of the few that can use, ahem, 'bad-boy' parts, if need be.
Many options for upper configurations, calibers, sighting devices.
Anything from self-defense to hunting to to target shooting to use as an offense weapon.

5. ArmaLite AR10.
Similar reasons to own this as the AR15, plus the benefit of bigger basic caliber and other options for uppers, such as ArmaLite's own magnum offering.

These are the 5 that I pick today.

edited to add:
It seems that when I open the safe, all of the above have taken up residence already except for the AR10, which is paid for, but not delivered yet (2003 SEBR).
I must remember to congratulate myself on such fine choices! [:D]

i guess since these are the 5 i own, then it would be these.

AKS-74U W/KOBRA EKP-1S-03M
SPRINGFIELD XD-40
AK-74 W/KOBRA EKP-8-02

in the future, maybe trade out the Krinkov for an AICS REM 700 in .308 or an M1A1 configured like the USMC DMR
and maybe trade up to a 1911 variant for the XD

If this was IT, and no more allowed EVER(DAMN, it gives me chills just typing that!!!)

In order of importance:

870 Marine Magnum or 870 Police

CZ75B 9mm

AKM 47(best available at the moment, although my SAR-1 would probably suffice)

DSA FAL

Ruger 22/45, with 5 and 1/2" bull barrel

I'd be looking for guns that'd be durable, reliable, and meet any future needs - and I believe I could "make do" with those... Now granted, I'd be sorely missing my 700 bolt guns, Bushmaster, and 452 American - but I view a .22LR as a necessity, also - and the idea of having only one handgun isn't appealing to me, sooo... Gotta have a reliable 12ga, and the AK and FAL cover ALOT of needs, including close quarters, long range(somewhat), and could even take big game in a pinch(hey, you've GOTTA eat, right?) - Not to mention lots of cheap, readily available mags...
