That's a pretty good assessment. It was bascially a comic filmed as a live movie. I think it was a comic book-er graphic novel.
This theme with higher technology victorian stories is an offshoot of those Cyberpunk novels from the late 80s, early 90s, like Nueromancer. I forgot what they're called "Steampunk" or something like that. There have been a couple of novels by well known science fiction writers with this same idea, computers developed with steam power and so on.
Anyway it was certainly cool looking. When you think about the movies we used to watch back in the 70s and earlier you never would have thought it was possible to show victorian london with Mr. Hyde running around on the rooftops like that, or the huge fantasy battle sequences like in the Lord of the Rings.
And, no, to the best of my knowledge I do not snore. I may drool a little, but hey it's dark and I paid $ 18 for us to go the movies like everyone else, I got my rights! [:)]
