Ya, I'm pretty sure what I'm hearing is gunfire. It's not sporadic like firecrackers, it's more consistant semiauto fire. And I could swear someones got themselves a damn artillary piece somewhere. sounds like damn WW III. Stupid rednecks.
I do think I might not be the most heavily armed neighbor in my hood anymore. Might have to pay a visit to the gunstore to remedy that. The arms race continues!!![:D] |

Firecrackers sound like 2 or 3 guys shooting. Even a guy shemptying his magazine as fast as possible doesn't sound like firecrackers.
If there was a single gun shot, that would be harder to tell. |

Yes, firearms have what I can only describe as a sharper sound. Working as a cop in the projects tends to heighten the senses to such subtle differences in tone.

Yes I can...and boy is that 54R loud as heck.[:D]
The AR does'nt sound as loud though....the gangbangers a couple of streets over are firing a Glock as fast as they can pull the trigger. They stopped after the 30 rounder from the AK...then the 54r just made them say Oooooooooooo.[:D] No A-10's out tonight DF...[LOL] |

If I have heard it, I can usually identify the gun from the sound. Not all all firecrackers sound the same either. They seem to sound different from year to year. It just may be different brands.

Usually I can tell most firearms from firecrackers- except for 22LR and .25ACP.

Locally: If you are in Newport Beach or Corona Del Mar, they are firecrackers. If you are in Santa Ana or San Juan Capistrano, they are gunshots.
