Are the following two statements true:

1.) The demise of the '94 ban won't affect the imports (factory semi HK, ...) since their fate was sealed by the '89 law

2.) The demise of the '94 ban will not have any affect on states such as NY, NJ, CAL, since their current state laws supersede federal bans/laws

Number 2 is true for sure.  States can pass more restrictive laws than Feds.

As for number 1 there are a whole bunch of other things that go into that besides the 1989 ban, including executive orders and determinations from the Treasury Department.

If the AW ban expires, one can always build an imported gun with enough US parts so it won't count as an import...those guns could then have all the evil features.

Can anyone else fill in the blanks about importing guns and parts kits and how the AWB will or won't affect them?

Well technically it will make state laws harder to defend due to lack of a comparable federal laws
