What is the relevance of the measuring tape in the dinner/lunch pics?

I obviously missed a post or two. So, why are they included?

Because if you don't you will be made fun of.

It must be some super secret.  I have looked at just about all of them as they come up and I have no idea.  They didn't do it when I started here.  I boycott doing it.  Besides I get made fun of for much worse here.

I will take the credit (blame?) for making the tape measure part of the dinner picture, although I wasn't the one who posted the picture. As I recall, some time last spring, a guy posted his first dinner/lunch picture, and his plate was on a coffee table in his living room. There was all manner of stuff on the table: TV remotes, newspapers, typical house stuff. However, I saw the tape measure in the picture, and I thought it was particularly whimsical, so I posted something to the effect of:

"Where's the tape measure? They always forget the ... oh, wait. There it is!"

This was posted in the same vein as "Where's the (knife, napkin, pistol, drink, fork ...)? They always forget the (knife, napkin, pistol, drink, fork ...).

The rest, as they say, is ARFCOM history.

There is no relevance, other than a gun and food, the rest of the imagined items is merely for those with fragile egos and poor self-image.

How did the whole dinner pic thing start?

For my one and only dinner pic I did last night, I used a ruler...it was too damn cold in the garage.

I got point down for the meal, not the measuring device [:(]

I thought the tape measure was used to prove the "Manly Sized" proportion of the meal,
As for penis measuring, you really think a ruler would be long enough for me? [ROFL]

This is how I remember it also. It kind of "evolved".
