they're talking about coleco vision now.............anybody else have one? i had one, weird number pad/joystick controller, had 3 games, donkey kong, some space game and another one i cant even remember............
glad i was too young to have been subjected to alot of the fashionable goings on of the day however.................bet class 3 was cheaper though, damnit! |

I remmember seeing my first set of Bewbee's (Fast times at Ridgemont High), I remmember Crocket and tubb's, and I was in love with the Go-Go's....I also remmember there was a issue of playboy that had a centerfold of a gal that was in the Army Band wearing a dress blues jacket....I would love to have that Issue again [:D]

Does anyone remember the party of the 80's that bill clinton talked about when he raised our taxes (in the 90's)? I lived through the 80's and don't remember it. I guess I was too busy trying to make enough money to keep from starving to death. I lived in the midwest in the 80's. You know the rust belt.
All in all the 80's are pretty funny to look back on. We didn't have as much stupid stuff as the 70's. I guess we are getting more sophisticated. Thats probably explains why tattoos and piercings are so popular. |

ahh the 80's i remember them,
Frogger,defender,pac-man,space invaders, centpede,pong. On the state of the art atari 2600. Then a bit later cane along nintendo. duckhunt and mario brothers anyone? we had all the cool video games back then But alas i didnt see my first shotgun news untill 1988. Lots of cool stuff way out of my freshman in HS price range. |

I graduated from High school in 1980.
I went into the Navy 2 weeks later. The women were great and that cool hairstyle Peanut boy was just about to loose his presidency to Regan in Nov. I miss the 80's those were some good times Edited to add: I paid 499.00 for a brand new H-K 91 in 1985 |

Well, on that note:
We had chicken mesh glued to the window of our gas range to pretend we had a microwave. As a matter of fact, we didn't have a VCR either. Just a huge old cassette player set on top of the TV. People didn't know better and we told then it was a video-recorder. I stole a brick one and clued a pocket calculator to it and showed off my mobile phone. A pair of Campbell's Soup cans served as exhaust pipes. Oh yeah, baby, that's a V8 fer shure, hop right in! Mullets! Let me tell you about mullets...actually, let's not. When people called us, I whistled modem noises at them: Pffffrrrrr crang crang crang sprrrroyeeeeeng bing bing bing! "Sorry, didn't get your call, I was on the computer!" |

California was a much friendlier place for gun owners. No Roberto-Roosi AWB. No ten day wait. No hi-cap magazine ban. Kitchen table FFLs
When I wanted an AR-15 I went to a gun shop, filled out a paperwork, paid cash and walked out the door with it 10 minutes later. The surplus store sold seven NIW Adventureline GI 30 round mags for $28. One of my buddies got his FFL and soon after I was buying AR lowers for under $80. There was a shop in Redwood City that specialized in modern military style firearms--there was no such thing as an "assault weapon". |

GM trying to figure out how to make things go fast while complying with the then-new EPA regs (Computer controlled carbs, Throttle Body Injection, then TPI (aka modern fuel injection))... Unbelievably slow GM V8 vehicles (corrected in 1993 with the introduction of the LT1)... The original 'Energizer Bunny' commercials (where Energizer bought time in other companies commercials and had the bunny roll through and knock stuff over (or wear a scuba suit and float through a soap commercial, etc))... And I was 0-10 yrs old... |

I remember. Reagan was president, the cold war was still going on, music was OK, but not as good as the 70s or 90s. I joined the USMC in 81, got married in 84 and had two kids by 89. Yep, if they had an Atari now, it would fit 10 games into the joystick. It'd run on AA batteries, and plug right in to the jacks on your TV, VCR, or DVD. And it'd cost less than $20.
Guess what--my nephew got one for Christmas! I have the Namco version with Pac Man, Galaxian, Dig Dug, and a few others. [b]EVERYONE[/b] I've showed it to that remembers them wants one. [:D] I'm a little rusty--I only managed 250,000 points on Missile Command [;D]. |
