Sometimes I read things here that really make my blood boil. And sometimes I start to post a reply, and end up canceling it before I post it.

Why?

Becuase I'm afraid of the trouble that my words might bring.

When I read things about Ruby Ridge, or Waco, or Tim McVeigh, or the abuses that cops commit, I really want to speak out. But some of my opinions might be considered radical or dangerous.

When I see high school kids get screwed because they have compiled a "Hit List", words on paper without any indication of action, or when I see Paladin lose a case about publishing the book "Hit Man", I wonder if the First Amendment even exists anymore?

Now, I'm no living-on-a-mountainin-in-a-shack-paranoid-deviant antisocialist. I'm an average guy with kids and a wife and a house, and I would hate to lose them. But I am afraid to speak my mind sometimes. Not because I am afraid of what people might think, but because of what the government might do.

Is anyone else feeling hamstrung? Stump broke? Does anyone really speak their mind here?

Or is this one big circle jerk?

I would not be surprised if the Constitution was totally gone in the next 25 years.

The First is certainly dead on college campuses -- the last place one would expect. That's the goal of the PC movement and they're winning.

if we use our first amendment rights we are called facists or racists just to demonize us

It still exists in forums such as this. In the shit world, it does not due to political correctness. We live in a world that has forces using methods to quite us before we can speak, for if we do, there will be a law somewhere that we have broken, and then we become a target.

Forget the medial since those gutless wonders have prostituted themselves a long time ago. Anyone that believes the words from a "journalist" needs to check themselves into a funny farm.

Stay with the sites until the gov. finds a way to tap into your keyboard. (oh I forgot, they have that now).

If its dead on a college campus how long before those student going school will run our country. If its dead in there minds now it will be dead in thier minds 20 years from now when they lead our country.

It's still there, bits of it.  A few periods and a comma, but it's there.

This is a topic that can get lots of comments/debate.  Limit something and you have legal precidenct(?) to limit something else.

THEY (whom ever you wish) don't want the status quo to change.  Now, the status quo is what ever you may think it is.  From trying to be non confrontational to thinking that legal documents like the constitution have to change w/ the times.

To use an old phrase, "Time will tell."

I seem to remember the following snippet from Metallica...

"You can do it your own way -
If it's done just how I say!"

Looks like what's happening...

How long before we see the first publication of the Newspeak dictionary?  Orwell was right, just was a few years off...

I have a wife and kids as well, and I want them to grow up in a free country, like I fought for.  Is it worth a risk?  I have put my life in the first line of defense for them, my principles must follow...

I have been writing to my Congressmen from both parties for two decades, and believe me I have told them how I feel about everything. I wouldn't worry about it, bitching is what makes us different. No one here is advocating violent acts against anybody. PC is whats got your tongue not the government, and you shouldn't allow that to happen. PC can only win if we become timid and let scumsucking racebaiting millionaire so-called leaders set the boundries. The truth needs to be told and not just their commie Utopian version of it.
Got to go, someone is knocking on the back door. HEHEHE   Oh, I almost forgot, a great big fuckem if they don't like it.

Yeah, I'm pretty free with what I say here, although I will admit a sneaking suspicion that some of the things I've posted about the ATF, has caused my Tax Stamp to be held up.  Maybe I'm just Paranoid.

Horatio in Act V, sc.ii, of Hamlet  -

I am more an antique Roman than a Dane:

- meaning that he was willing to follow Hamlet into death by drinking from the same poisoned cup, in the fashion of the ancient Romans.

Well, I'm not one who thinks it wise to talk of self-slaughter, so to put it a better way:

I am more frontier Texan than modern-day American.

If you're willing to die to save your Country from foreign enemies, you should be at least as willing to die for the very ideas upon which that Country was founded.

If the Constitution is gone in 25 years, I will be too.

Yep, the framers of the Constitution were a hell of alot smarter than the so-called experts we have now.  No Constituion = No USA.  Simple as that.

The Constitution will be here....
It is the Constitution as we know it that will be gone.

Years back? There were nut cases, the moonies, that suicidial bunch in Ghyana, the hare krishnas and more..
Now? The bandwidth of what is acceptable to the fed has narrowed.. Not only narrowed? It has become lethally confrontational to differ with what is considered acceptable by them..

We have special rights.. If a man assaults one of us? It is assault. Claim that you are gay? And the assaulter is in deep trouble.

This nation said equal rights, that has become special rights for some.. That is discrimination.

Liberals and leftists are taking our Rights. They attempt to destroy our heroes, morals and even our Right to religion. After all it is supported to be gay, yet let a person quote the Bible, they are ranked homophobic and gay bashers..

We are almost to the point of pedophiles being picked on.. The Boys Scouts is a bad organization..

This $hit is way too deep for me..

Oh listen to the poor babies whine...

Your censoring yourself because you are afraid of what other people are going to write back??  Your egos are that fragile??

The First Amendment has never guarenteed that you would be liked for what you said, just that you can say it.

Taking away your right to religion?  Just because it is now finally safe, after a couple millenia, for people to speek out and argue aginst what is printed in that damn black book, without being murdered, abused or imprisioned YOUR right to beleve in it is now threatened?  How?

Then again you do reap what you sew, and "Christians" have certainly planted a lot of hatred and injustice in the world over the years.  Maybe you will have to suffer through the retaliation of those who have been abused over the centuries now that your power in society is weakening. Historically, humanity has tended to yo-yo between extreams that way.

It's not that the 1st is dead, it isn't generally the government that is abridging our freedom of speech--it's the strange "shame on you" looks you get from other people whenever you say anything that isn't politically-correct.  It had to be a lot like this in Germany right before WWII.  Everyone knew right from wrong but no one would raise their voice for fear of repurcussions.  And there are repurcussions!  I once suggested that our town could make do with many fewer cops that it currently has.  I got treated like I was a baby killer or something.

But the 1st isn't dead as long as I can speak my mind and offer a dissenting viewpoint to those in charge.

The First Amendment of the Constitution of the United States is not in danger of going away. What is dangerous to freedom lovers like "most" of us which frequent this site is the INTERPRETATION of the Constitution by Federal and the Supreme Courts. That is why it is so important to stay involved in the political process as much as we can stomach it. Vote, write legislators, let them know your opinions. If you vote, you count and that is all politicians care about. Remember "the man who takes the liberty to live rises above all the laws by virtue of his relation to the lawmakers".

Armdlbrl, I think you read that wrong. I seriously doubt that he is worried about what any of us think about him.  I believe this is in reference to what the gov't is doing.

Trickshot, you are correct.  The Fourth Reich will come to power just like the Third - they will make you want it.  The sheeple will line up to give away the rights their Creator gave them and our fathers and brothers fought and died to keep.
Armdlbrl, you may deny the existence of the Almighty all you wish.  He exists, and the right to speak, bear arms, and pray (or not) are the gifts He gives us all...
As far as the gov't is concerned, I don't care what they do and don't know about me any more.  If they come for me, I will fight.  If they come for my neighbors, I will fight.  This may cost me my life at some point.  So be it, WE'RE ALL GOING TO DIE SOONER OR LATER ANYWAY!  I want to leave my children two things.  Faith and freedom.  If it takes my life to do so, it was still worth the cost.  Teach your children to fear God, shoot straight, and speak the truth.............
