I like the MMC site.
Easy to use compact and protective ears for the side  of the site.

I know a lot of pros that complain about ghost rings - coming loose etc.

What about std. rifle sights?

BTW - I have ghost rings on my benelli - so don't listen to a word I say

Anyone of those sights would serve you well.  Ive handled all three and they are good gear.

The Sage ghost rings get my vote for most bad ass looking, but thats just me being stupid [;)]

There's a review of the XS ghost ring sites in the September 2003 issue of SWAT Magazine.

Have Sage's on my 590, they're rock steady. Only problem with mine occurred after removing and reinstalling them to park the SGN. I forget to LocTite one of the screws and it came loose and disappeared (showed up during a pre match inspection) luckily the sight parts are common Williams style so the local shop had the screw I needed. Installed it, zeroed it at lunch Friday and shot the match Saturday. Not a problem since.

Unfortunately after I had MMC's installed on my 1100 I had this idea:

Buy a barrel with the cantilever scope mount. Install one of the peep sights designed for a Weaver-type base on the mount & the front sight of your choice (it may need to be taller than standard). This way the sights come off with the barrel, making it easier to convert back to hunting configuration.

Just an idea I had about a year too late. I may still do it if I encounter an 870 for a bargain price.

$160 for the XS!!

If I were you I would just buy an 870 with factory ghost ring sights (if they make one).

My Mossberg 500 has a set of stock ghost ring sights.

I went with the MMC sights on my Mossy.  The rear was adjustable (and with slugs, I needed that), and I got the tritium versions so they are good in darkness as well, of which I am currently experience the first solid month of two that we get here in Barrow every year.  Only one more month and the sun will rise again!  whoopie.

I vote for regular rifle sites. I have them on a Police 870 and I would not go back to ghost rings on a shotty. Strickly iron sight speaking, rifle sights come up faster for me as I have lots of time behind iron sighted big bores so the aquiring of the sight pattern feels more natural.

I love ghost ring sites on other types of guns, so I am not excluding the usefullness of them at all. I actually love them on everything from my target rimfires to a Glock I had wit hthem on it.

Also in that RARE event I want to put a different barrel on the shotty, I am not limited to the rear sight as the rifle sights on my 870 are on the barrel.

Thanks for all the replies.  I decided to go with the XS ghost rings.  They are a little pricy, but i like them.  I also want to be able to put a rail in front of the sights in the future, when i get some more cash, so i can put a throwlever aimpoint on it.
