Gawd I hope that's not it!

Fugly front end - looks like a Camaro

I'd have to keep my '02 C5 forever.

Would you not agree that your C5 took a little cue from the early 90's Firebird?  Me thinks so, follow the link to the photo...(hey, it's the most work I'm willing to put in in finding a '92 model pic)

Damn it!

They fixed the rear-end and ruined the front. Agree that it looks too much like a Firebird front.

Oh well, if the initial specs are anywhere close, this thing is going to rip.

I'd like to have one to keep the '91 race car company.

If they are using the LS-1, i'll take it and drop it in my jeep. There's no substitute for horsepower for christmas.

Makes me even happier that I bought the '04 ZO6 because that thing is Fugly as hell.....Looks like the C5 bumped uglies with a Firebird and  out came the C6 bastard child

That original pic up top isn't the best pic for the subtle changes IMO.  The car looks badassed IMO...  I love the shark fin look on the fenders, more chiseled than the C5, which looked too bulbous, especially in the ass (this one still has a big ass but it's cut better...)

The front end looks ALOT like the new Viper.  Not that that is a bad thing though, it looks tough to me.  I'd kinda rather have popup headlights I guess but I can live with it.

400hp in the base model is in a whole new class though.  Can't wait to hear what the new Z06 puts out, gotta at least be 450hp I'd think if not 475-500ish, who knows...  Supposedly much improved build quality too (not that the C5 was a piece of junk or anything though)

I think the nose looks more like an S2000.  I really don't see Firebird in the photos.

Here's an S2000 for comparison:

BTW, I looooove the new C6 Vette.  I was only lukewarm on the C5, but man this C6 is drop dead gorgeous!

EDITED to add that it doesn't look like the shark fin flanks in AR15-fan's post made it through to production (thankfully...).  Or maybe they're just more subtle than in that Motor Trend photo?

Yeah they did, it's just harder to notice on the original thread's pic, this is the production car supposedly.  More pics from a different article here:

EDIT, This batch of photos is acting up, links are right but half the time they don't show up, album contents page here: http://community.webshots.com/album/106016140hpPGSI

Alot of it seems to be the pic angle and how the light hits it, but it has pretty pronounced "fins" IMO:

I think it's bad ass!!

Definately has a Ferrari and of course viper appeal to it (not that you can truely compare a vette with a Ferrari, but the C6 does appear to have some of the Ferrari styling cues).

Does it have more headroom than the C5? Seems that ever since the 70's, they are being designed for shorter people...

Rear is too big, from the side, the C5 & 6 look sweet, but from aft they look like they have been grazing at the dessert bar too long.

Not wild about the front end (or that of the Viper or even the Modena for that matter) too plasticky.

(although a front end can be done sans metal and still look good:

Anyone see the new Chevy commercial with the C6 in it last night?  Pretty slick!

You can see the full 2:00 version of the commercial here: http://www.chevrolet.com/library/commercials/

Also, there are 40 new high rez photos of the C6 posted here: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zerothread?id=720834

That means all the C5s will be on sale!  I leased a C4 the last time they changed to the C5. $1000 down and $300 a month!  It was great and I gave it back when the lease was up.  Not bad for a $45000 car.

Well, I was planning on getting an S2000 once I passed the bar exam and got a real job, but all of a sudden I've got the urge to buy American again...

More motivation for the bar exam...

P.S. That commercial kicked ASS.

P.P.S.  This is the first corvette in twenty years that doesn't scream "I need aftermarket wheels and tires NOW!"  I think aesthetically its one of the most beautiful cars Chevy has ever produced, to my eye.

Agreed.  I like the vipers and all, and even the new GT40 looks nice, but the new vette just looks like style to me... I need one in a bad way.

As far as the world, I would have to give the nod to Ferrari for style, IMO of course. But, I'll never be able to afford one of those, so give me a vette!

I spent all day Sunday working on the headlights on my great-nephew's new C5.  GM just can't build pop-up headlights that work.  All of the local dealers are so fed-up with problems with the headlights, they won't even touch them.  I've got the lights so that they close almost all of the way.  The biggest problem left is that the lights still point much too low even when adjusted all of the way up.  Sigh, GM quality.z

The styling of the C5 is ripped from the '93-'95 Mazda RX-7.
