Well?
I was just looking at an AR15 site, but for FAL's and I was wondering. I'm guessing there isn't as much fans as with ar's. I've just added AR and AK to my list of must have. I don't know if I need to add FAL.

ar15.com = mostly AR discussion.

falfiles.com = FAL discussion.

YES, you need a FAL.

If God wanted to do some plinking, he would lift up an FAL to do it... except once in a while, just for fun, he would pick up a GARAND..

The FAL is one hell of a MBR!

Fals have armed more army's than just about everything other than the AK.
I've never met some one that didn't like them.
Somewhat inexpensive and very addicting.
Everybody needs at least one.

May I am only looking at MSRP's but it does seem the FAL's are twice as expensive as the AR's.

Well, first of all, I would like to say, damn you people for making me add it on to my list; now I have another rifle to buy. SHIT!
WHY! WHY?

On another note, are there as much parts as AR's? Will it cost me about the same as an AR?
I hope so. I don't want to spend more than 1k.

The site I went to WAS falfiles. Thanks guys.

YES.  Everyone should have at least 1.....if not half a dozen FAL's!

Many choices of good Metric and Inch pattern receivers to roll your own.  FAC is having a sale on Imbel Gear Logo type 3 receivers.......$179!

I just picked up a 99% Belgian FN 50.63 and can't bring myself to shoot it. It really is one sexy MBR though!

BTW, complete kits can be found for under $200....sometimes less for kits in worst conditions.  You can put together your own FAL for under $500 with US parts.

Yes, you can... assuming (1) you have the tools and (2) you have the skill.  I don't see the point when you can buy a complete and warrantied rifle for $600 from folks that have the process refined.

I have purchased a kit, compliance parts and receiver for $390.  I'll have a professional repark, assembly and testing/tweaking done for around $150.  Less than the cost of buying from one of the above.

A metric FAL will be my next black rifle.

Sorry, guys, while I enjoy shooting the .223, the .308 is a real MBR round.

I only have 6 FAL's of all kinds.  Imbel SAR48, Imbel SAR-4800 5.56 RATFAL, L2A1 Inch Heavy BBL, The HOLY GRAIL sear cut G1 and 2 kit guns.  I've only managed to collect 20 kits in the past 10 years.  I don't need surplus parts kits refinished just so they match and look pretty.  I can appreciate the fact that they are surplus military rifles and have a new life on a new receiver.

Geish.  Get the bbl vice and receiver wrench, you will be able to roll all your own FAL's from now on with the help from the FALFILES boys.  Then just have someone refinish it for you.

A little off topic, who makes a good scope mount for an FAL?  A friend has one with a real cheapie Chinese-made mount that loosened up and fell apart after 30 shots.  So much for the idea "it looks just like the expensive mounts, you're just not paying for the name."

ARMS makes a great mount.  DO NOT buy the TAPCO mount, it eats major ass.

The FAL is DEFINATELY a gun worth buying.  Go for it, you won't regret it!

FALs suck.  Why would anyone buy one.  Well, I bought this one.  No idea why.

JHeez.  No idea but since then I bought a STG kit and DSA reciever.  I just don't get it.  I'm gonna have  TWO FALs after this.  Hmm.  You'd almost think I like them or something.

My AR feels like a .177 Daisy after ripping gaping holes open with a .308 at the range. Everyone needs at least 1 FAL. It's like having a big-block V8 engine  vs the 4 cyl hamster wheel.

Been on my wish list for some time. That will look so bad ass hanging out the crack of my DSA! Schweet!

And what he said, where did you get that?!?

Someone on the Falfiles had them for about $25?

I like the FAL because:

1. Dependable
2. 7.62
3. Good 20rd mags are cheap and available
4. Spare parts are cheap and available
5. Accurate
6. Very cool looking!

The G3 looks cooler but I prefer the FAL when it comes to shooting.  It is a better rifle.  However if I had to use the rifle as a club I would rather have the G3 [:D]

are FAL's as worth the money as AR's?

Yes, definitely.

A FAL is a must have.  Unlike the AR or AK, It is a Battle Rifle.

See I thought 30's were supposed to be straight... but I love that curved look.  Anybody have a source for these?  Campy, how are they in terms of reliability?

You definatly NEED a FAL.

Fantastic gun, I shoot mine more than my AR now.[peep]

Oops, did I say that out loud?

The rifle is my favorite can't say much more than what has been said except what other rifle can you tell a LEO or BATF or anyone for that matter without getting in trouble 'Yes that is my FN rifle', or 'Hey don't touch my FN rifle' the FN fun never FN ends with a FN/FAL. [snoopy]Think I'll take my FN rifle out this weekend had one guy ask me at the range is that a .223? He and his buddy were shooting a AK clone.

The magazine in that rifle was bought from DSA for I think $60 or $65 at the SAR show.  Functions and fits perfect. It is like new.

I also bought some straight 30 round mags from Tapco for $25 each.  Wish I had spent the money on another one of the DSA mags.  The Tapco mags are problematic.  Perhaps after disassembly and cleaning they will work.  Perhaps.

FAL straight 30 rounders are fairly "common" right now and can be had for under $25.  I however have held off since I just bought 15 20 rounder in excellent condition for $50 shipped...  Hmmmmmmm, two 30 rounders in rough shape or fifteen 20 rounders for the same price.

To be honest I'm not sure I'll use the 30s much anyway.  The rifle gets a bit heavy and off balance.  Seems like most military users figured it right with the 20s.

But once in a while the 30 is fun.  And, if I ever find that FA FAL I want, the 30s could be neat.

[imbroglio]AR-15 and an FAL nothing more[/imborglio]

FALs can definitely rock and roll.  I built one on an Imbel reciever and it's definitely one of my favorites.
