Thanks for the links.  I was wondering because Powell was over there and told them we are going to up their military aid fourfold.  I was wondering what we are going to give them.

I'm still looking for a list of small arms used if anyone knows where to find it.  I have one from the 80's but I'm pretty sure it has changed.

FAL's, a lot of Soviet and Chicom supplied AK and AKM's. The US provided them with several thousand M16A1's via FMS back in the early 80's.

Like most 3rd world countries they use what ever is supplied by the US or Soviet allies depending on who they like at that particular time.

Back in the 80's we deployed there as part of the 6th fleet, landing force, 24 MEU (SOC) then called MAU.
We crosstrained with them and one of the funniest things I remember about them is that they thought the spinning wheel mortermen use to determine what fuze to put on rounds,(Sorry cant remember what its called, I was an 0311 by trade) the Moroccans thought was some magic thing, their Mortar guru a MSgt, just stared down range at the target and guesstamated fuze and range, which almost always missed. and they had a hell of a lot of short rounds...lol

Can you imagine the logistical headache just from the ammunition supply point of view?  Let's see: 7.62 X 39, 7.62 X 51 (NATO), 7.62 X 54R (Russian), 30-06, 7.5mm (French) and .30 Carbine.  Six different calibers just for the rifle / light machine gun / GPMG!  I do not want to be the logistical officer in that army!
