What? This cannot be? Someone who makes their living in Hollywood is actually putting their money where their mouth is?
Most of them just like to tell US where we should be putting OUR money, meanwhile being paid high dollars from the charity that they are "supporting". They are liars and scum. HOWEVER... I will make an exception for Bruce and a few others. I knew there was a reason I bought "Tears of the Sun" on DVD. I helped Bruce pay-up on this reward. Good for him. He stands with a very small crowd. |

I read in a men's mag... sorry can't remember which one... the Bruce even tried to get Bush to wave the age cut off so he could join the army and do his part.
|
|
Good for him. I wonder how he will establish which soldier is most directly responsible for finding Sadam. I'm sure the army will have something (negative) to say about it too.

View Quote I think I read that too. It's funny how a few actors (Bruce, Mel) get better at acting, more patriotic, mature, etc with every movie they make. While most just get more lame, more childish, more nuts, etc with every one they make. Have you seen Martin Sheen lately? West Wing or no, his performace in Spawn sucked BIG time IMO. |

View Quote He will have a hard time and the army won't allow it till the kid gets out of the service, unless Bruce gives it to the kids parents, then the Army won't have a leg to stand on legally. I am continuing to honor my offer to accept 1 million from Bruce. Haven't heard from him yet, however. [BD]

Knowing how well the Army buddy system works, the money will be shared. An Air Force guy won big money in the Florida lottery and bought his buddies some Harleys. (It was front page in the Sumter SC newspaper). The fact that the Army guys are fighting together only makes them tighter. The squad will probably divide the money.

Too many people were involved in finding SH. Its not fair to pay the ONE person... and I doubt the military will let anyone keep the money since they funded the soldier being there and its was the soldier's job to find SH.

So just give to the soldier that found the spider hole cover. |

View Quote I agree with you. Operation Red Dawn was not a one man show. From the intel guys to the 600 man raiding team, they all deserve a piece of the pie. As far as the Army not allowing a soldier to keep the money - it ain't up to them. It's a private transaction from one citizen to another. Plus, if they tried, just imagine all of the negative press the Army would receive. |

View Quote "It's not fair??!!" Heads up mods, I think I've sniffed out another DU troll! [BD] Just kidding. My guess is that Bruce Willis will get together with the Army Public Affairs office and it will be announced that the million dollars is being donated to the USO in the soldier's name. There will be a nice photo-op with the soldier and Willis will probably spring for a helluva party for the unit. |

It's Bruce's money. He wants to give it to the guy who found the hole. Good for him. If the Army has a problem with a Soldier getting a reward, Bruce should put it in a off shore account for the lad. If the trooper wants to share it that's his business.

$1,000,000.00 divided by 600 = $1,666.66 per man. Not bad, and I'd certainly take it but it's a far cry from the promised "overnight millionaire."
It's Bruces money, that makes it HIS decision who to give it too. This is part of the problem in America to many people minding other peoples business. Let Bruce decide who to give it to and quit worrying about what's not your business. BTW, F the Government if they try and step in and dictate who can get the money and when. Double F them if they tax a single penny of it. [argue] [peep] |

I once spoke with a soldier who served in Desert Storm. He told me the Saudi government at that time wanted to give each and every service member who participated in that conflict a $10,000 bonus, just because they could. Schwartzkopf rejected the idea, because American soldiers aren't mercenaries. No, we aren't, but that doesn't mean that if a grateful nation want to reward us that we arbitrarily refuse their gifts. Many, many young soldiers and thier families could have used that money. That's my opinion, anyway. |

I say if Bruce wants to give it to one Soldier than that's his business. It's just like hitting the lottery, they don't split it up amoungst all of the people that played the lottery.
That would be cool to be able to give someone that kind of money. I wish we could do that for all of the Soldiers fighting for us! I also say "HOORAH" to Bruce Willis for being a great American! We need more of the Hollywood bunch to be like him. I very much admire people like him. Now if only Sean "Bagdad" Penn, Martin "Spaceman" Sheen and Alec baldwin would all butt-fuck each other until they died I will be a happy man! May they and all of their other liberal puke scumbag buddies be miserable fucks for the rest of thier days! Coz |

Bruce Willis is one of the "good guys" in Hollywood. James Wood being another. I bet its not easy being a conservitive Republican amoungst all those liberal commies in Hollywood.

Bush I (aka "Shit Bird") then, the second his ass was out of office, flew over to Saudi to pick up his first pay check and sweatheart oil deal from them and increase the family fortune from just being rich to being ultra rich. |

I bought Tears of the Sun as well, not so much because I liked the movie (though I did) but because I figure that he's a rare thing among celebrities, a man with a sense of honor. Sure he has his skeletons in his closet, but this guy stands up, and if reports are true, he REALLY stands up and was willing to toss his film career and possibly his life to get into the fight.
I think he's worth every penny that he gets paid so long as he continues to stand. That's why I bought his movie. |

As far as Bruce's reward money is concerned. If he wants to give it, there are ways to do so. All he has to do is set up a trust in the soldier's name that cannot be touched until the soldier or officer is discharged or resigns. Make his parents or his wife trustees or assign the account to whomever holds his Power of Attorney so that the money is not lost to uncle in the event that the lad gives it all while deployed. If he does so, and the soldier stays in for a while, he could end up with more than a million in the bank since most, if not all trusts are invested and generate interest.
I would also consider the idea of splitting the money between key players in the raid with equal shares paid out to the intel weenie who twigged to this, and the members of the squad who actually made the capture. Plus another share to the 600 man unit to pay for one big party, and whatever is left, share out equally to the men. Just my opinion. |

Look at Jessica Lynch-- didn't she end up with a book deal or something?
BW could have the soldier write a little book or something and pay him off that way... hehe But since he made his intentions well known, I doubt he could hide it *easily*. |
