..........A look at upcoming legislation shows that 2004 will likely be the most important year on gun safety since the Brady Bill passed in 1993. This session, Republicans have promised to bring up the gun manufacturer's Immunity Bill. Senators John McCain, Jack Reed and Joe Lieberman will be offering their bill on gun shows as an amendment to the Immunity Bill and Senators Feinstein and Schumer will offer an amendment to renew the assault weapons ban. Senators Larry Craig and Chuck Schumer have teamed up to move a bill to improve the instant background check system. The Assault Weapons Ban is also set to expire just weeks before the election.......

Relax guys...we've covered this ground a dozen times before.

NO anti-gun legislation of ANY kind will make it out of ANY committee, to the floor of either the House or Senate...much less to the President's desk for signature.  THE AWB WILL NOT BE RENEWED!  That tar-baby is political suicide.  Since the Republicans now control both houses, we are safe...for the time being.

I don't give a FUCK if Traitor McCain, Chucky the Socialist and His Holyness John-Paul Himself try to get this shit passed.  IT AIN'T FUCKING HAPPENING.

Now sit back, pop a top, turn on the game and RELAX...everything is all right.  AFTER the election, then we can reassess.  For now...no problem.

What a wonderful compromise for Bush.  Protect the right of every duck hunter to own a Remington 870, and fulfill his promise to renew the AW ban.

I wish I shared your optimism.

Until next September when I can walk into a store and get me a brand-e new AR with all the 'evil' superpowers and upgrades will I sit back and relax for a moment.

"All that is needed for Evil to succeed is for good men to do nothing."  Or something to that effect.

Democrates know it's political suicide. They are hoping to get it to the prez to end his chances of being re-elected.  At the same time they know it will hurt their partys elections.  They know they could lose more seats.  THey cannot afford that and the majority of the dems are willing to let it die.  But the few are trying to raise a stink anyway against the Party's recommendation.

Bush & the republicans know it's political suicide also.

The Republicans would drop the immunity bill if it did indeed get the awban extention attached.

The Reps will not put Bush in that position.  They know he'd sign it. Killing their chances for maintaining majority control after the election.

The best option for the republicans is to get the immunity thru without the extention.  It would be a final blow (stab & twist) to the democrats.
