Story

Police are investigating the possibility that the officer's injuries were a result of "friendly fire."

According to Philadelphia Police inspector Bill Colarulo, 39th District officer Antoine Small (left) was working with other officers, serving an arrest warrant for aggravated assault along the 1300 block of Allegheny Avenue.

Colarulo says as Small tried to pick up the suspect listed on the warrant, gunshots were fired and Officer Small was hit in his right leg.

He was taken to Temple Hospital, where he was listed in good condition.

Inspector Colarulo:

"The person that was wanted for aggravated assault was arrested on the warrant (and) is in custody. We do not believe he was the individual that was firing the gun. It is unknown at this time, however, if he was involved in the shooting of the officer. That is still under investigation."

No one is in custody for the shooting at this time.
