Don McLean's classic hit about the turbulent 60's, starting with the death of Buddy Holly, the rise of Evis, the beatles and the stones. The Bianca-Tate murders ect..

I heard that "Miss American Pie" was the name of the airplane in which Buddy Holly, Richie Valens and "The Big Bopper" were killed in. Does anyone know it that's true?

I don't think it refers to the name of the plane.

What I think it is refering to is "a piece of the American Pie". --- But I could be wrong.

Don Mclean, Dylan et al, definitely fit in this category. Sorry.

I've hated that song for 20 years now. It contains some of THE most inane lyrics ever sung, and I've wanted to bitch-slap Don McLean ever since the 100th time I heard it [:D]

If he wanted to write a song about Holly, the Big Bopper, and Richie Valens, why didn't he do it, instead of giving us that mumbo jumbo horseshit?

Did I mention I HATE that song?

Joe Walsh appropriately named one of his solo albums [b][u]You[/u] bought it, [u]You[/u] name it[/b] referring to the album itself. You paid for this album, you can name it. This was in response to music fans who try to read things into meaningless lyrics trying to find some deeper meaning.
