Does anybody have any feedback on the US mil issue gortex boots.  I need a good all-purpose camping/beat-around/hiker/work boot.  Has anyone an opinion? All info appreciated.

if you want a tough pair of boots that will last forever, be comfortable, and look decent....look at the wolverine durashock steel toe.

Carolina offers a great boot.

Very comfortable out of the box, much more so than Red Wings and they're durable.

Danner Acadias or the Matterhorn USMC boot are very close to the current issue gore-tex boot for the USMC... I know, I was in.

The Danner Acadias are the most comfortable pair of shoes I own.

I just had to send a pair of Danner Foothills back for a size change.  They are brown with cordura tops, goretex, hook lacing on top and the vibram sierra sole.  I can't wait to get the wider pair back.  I think I am going to love them.  If you order Danners I think you should get a wider pair as I think they run narrow.

Corcoran jump boots. A tad pricey, but well worth it.

Thanks for all the input.  I can now look at some different brands for comparison.  I would still like to hear from anyone who has tried the Sportsman guide factory second  mil spec gortex boot.  Not sure who manufactures these

another vote for danners, i stand in mine at least 15 hours a day, and they feel like gym shoes,  would not buy anything else

I think I am leaning toward the Danner Acadia.  I like both the black with gortex and the desert issue.  Someone tell me how these  run as far as sizing.  Big, small or what as I will order without trying on.  I appreciate all the great responses.  My feet will thank you later.

The Matterhorn, while a knockoff of the Danner boot, is a good boot for the money.  I've had three pairs since 1988 and they're relatively durable.

You'd do better with the Danners (the stitching is better), but they're about $100 more, IIRC.

The Corcoran "Jump Boots" aren't Gore-Tex and won't keep you warm, but they shine up very well for a "dress" boot.

Update.  The wider pair fits perfect.  I have only worn them about two days now and am very impressed so far.

I would say the black one is probably going to run narrow.  I have heard that the desert boot does not run as narrow as the black/brown ones.

I have some Danner Radicals.

http://www.danner.com/products.asp?catid=11&prodid=1887

Steel toe for work, comfortable, light, uninsulated yet kept my feet warm in subzero arctic winter conditions for a six hour stretch.

Danner Acadia #21210

There's nothing else I'd rather put on my feet.

I got Danner Ft lewis here.  Have lasted over a year wearing them everyday with no problems.  Going to have to get new laces soon.

Another Danner fan here.  After getting my first pair earlier this year I tossed out most of my other boots.  The Danners are SO comfortable.

Well,  I ended up with Matterhorn desert boots model #3000 with gortex.  These look like the Danner desert boots but have gortex.  They are very comfy and look great.  Thanks to all for the input.
