Cobb Fast-Action .50 caliber (BMG) rifle

Originally it was supposed to be a semi-auto.  It looks like they cannot get the design to work.  Would you buy this:

It's a bit outside my budget.

$5600 for the "fast bolt"
$7300 for the Barrett M82A1, semi-automatic, with a proven track record from a proven company.

If you want bolt action why not an M99, $3,100 list.

$7,300 for a semi .50BMG, from an established company doesn't seem too expensive to me. But a $5,600 bolt gun from an unknown company seems really expensive to me.

Two different price points, but of the two listed, however impractical a comparison:

The M82a1 all day long.

For less money, I would still take the AR50 or M99.

I'd buy a Robar or McBro's before I bought either one of those rifles.

If they could work out the bugs and make the Cobb semi-auto would you reconsider?

Barrett 82s have a long and distinguished record of killing America's enemies in the far corners of the world for more than a decade now.  They are not without their faults, but as a piece of combat weaponry they are proven.

Plus, Ronnie Barrett is so pro-2nd amendment that he makes Ashcroft look like a left-leaning moderate.  There's alot to be said for that too.

if I had the bucks I would go with the Barrett 99, a 82A if I really had the money.....Barrett is a proven and reliable company that makes a quality product....Cobb looks like some bubba put that thing together in his trailer. I wouldn't even take the chance of firing one.

They had one at a Gun Show here(made in GA) and it seemed pretty nice. There was a crowd around the table. Not what I 'need' right now.

How was the fit and finish?  They used to talk about a semi-auto model now the just have info on the "fast-action".  Did they say they were still planning on building a semi-auto?
