I got this Jeep sitting in my driveway.

I'd use it for target practice, but I dont think that's eviromentally safe.

Does it run well enough?

Then keep it for those SHTF scenarios!

Otherwise give it to some charity.

If it runs and will pass smog, sell it. If it wont pass smog give it to charity for the tax write off.

Heck if it runs might as well keep it. By the way what year is your Jeep? Mid 70's maybe? Anyway nothing would last that long around here it would rust out. BobK

Dude, that thing looks like it is fine shape. Keep it and turn it into a full-time off-roader. Or send it out to me and I will give it a good home. And a brand new Chevy heart.

But I HAVE noticed an odd phenomenon with Jeep vehicles. It also hold true for Harley's as well.

No matter how crappy a Jeep (or Harley) looks, someone will always pay for it.

People will buy Jeeps (or Harley's) in such crappy condition that if it were any other make of truck (or bike) you would have to pay someone to take it away.

79 with a 360.4x4 quadra-trac.

It has small spots of rust here and there, nothing major.

I took it in to get smogged and it almost passed.The tech said it was running too rich.

I have 2 Wagoneers, a 82 & a 77. I would make a trail rig out of it.

My old trail rig was the 77 Wagoneer w/ a 401 cu V8. I put a 3" body lift and 33" tires on it. It would go anywhere.

If you want to get rid of yours, let me know, I will take it off your hands.

Most of those charity outfits that take your car from you are scams.

They keep a huge percentage of the proceeds and very little gets passed on to those who need it the most.

I bet if you threw that thing in the local paper, it would sell in a heartbeat.

Hell, you could probably sell it to someone here on the board if you wanted to.

Of course, if you really need it out of your driveway, I'd be happy to "haul" it away for you.....[:)]

I wished you were closer! I'd take it! OD green paint, some new all terrain tires!

If you don't want a new "hobby" then, I'd agree with the others and go the charity route.

I'd sell it or donate it to charity. Here in Indiana it'd be a rust bucket by now. In California with little or no rust, it would more than likely be worth something to a jeep enthusiast. Ebay?

Didn't those have some horrible reliability and corrosion problems? It would be a pile of rust flakes if it lived for 24 years on the East Coast.

Hard to sell a car that wont pass smog. New owner cant even register it in his own name until the repairs are made and it passes the retest.

The honorable way to sell the car is for the seller to make the repairs, get it tested/passed, then sell it within 90 days to the buyer can register it immediately.

I would never sell a car that I knew wont pass smog, becuase it's just asking for the new owner to be driving it with it still registred in my name, unisured, with a stolen year tab. Even if you submitt a release of liability, YOU still come back as the RO until the new owner COMPLETES the registration process.

That is true in California but remember, CA has the most insane smog laws in the country.

It will pass no problem in Nevada, especially at this cool little place I know that will let you adjust the carb while the sensor is in the tail pipe. HE HE

There is a demand for those old Waggoners. Do a google search. My sis-in-law wanted one till she started shopping for one, they get a fortune for restoration projects let alone ones in good shape.

Shooot! I wish I could find one in that good a shape out here. I'll start a charity just so you can donate it to me! But I am sure you can find some one in AZ/NV like AZ-K9 who'll take it. CA dosent give you any kind of "antique" exemption?
I used to have an 79 cherokee chief S with the AMC 360 engine and quadra trac and it was unstoppable -- well rust finally stopped it, terrian never did. Ran out of parts to replace rusted/dented panels couldnt afford new replacements at the time.

let's see...THREE of the seven vehicles we shot up at bulletfest were actually driven onto the berm! and one of them refused to catch fire...even with a half tank of gas in it.

you know...the guys have been after me to shoot my s10 for the last...oh...4 years! if i let them blast my s10 i am going to need a replacement ride. hell, i'll bet that old 360 gets better gas milage than my 2.8l v6.

I'm sure someone would buy it. If nothing else than for parts. Us CJ owners like those AMC V8s and Dana 44 frontends, too. Whatever you do, don't just scrap it. I've had other members suggest I do the same with my CJ-8, completely unaware of it's desirabilty and practical collector status among Jeep enthusiasts and it's subsequent value.
