I've been married about 20 years. In the last year or so, it seems to me that my wife, now 45, has turned from "very good looking" to "heart-rendingly gorgeous." She hasn't made any big changes in her appearance or physical condition other than letting her hair grow out, and that alone wouldn't account for it.

Do you think this phenomenon is likely to be objectively real, or is it more likely that over time one's spouse just becomes engraved in one's mind as the ideal example of her gender?

Yes, I know this is worthless without pics. No I don't have the capability to post any.

Some women do age very well. It's not common but it does happen.

My wife is 40, and I am 36. She still looks great.
Most people think she is in her early 30's. Especially
with her body! Woot Woot!
Just wish my tv remote worked on her some times.

I pointed the remote at my g/f once and as soon as she realized I was clicking the "mute" button we got to find out that I can still run faster than her.

Haven't found that to be the case with mine. For 14 years now I have been telling her to let her hair grow out. Every two months she gets it chopped just above the sholders.

This could very well be more than your love for your wife. Some woman just age very well.

Look at Katie Couric, if you saw her 10 years ago, she looked like a homeley rag dog doll, now she actually looks hot.

(yes I know she is a liberal, just an example)

Been married 19 years. The longer it is, the better she looks. She used to be gorgeous, now she is much more then that. Blond and built. I don't even look at other women now. All my fantasies involve her. Sex is GREAT. She is much more up to nearly anything I suggest. It doesn't get any better than this. The kicker is she feels the same way. She gives me wood just thinking about her. God I love that woman. Nothing else comes close.

After 20 years and 17 years of marriage, my wife now 37 years old is hotter now then she ever was as a teen ager. The only gripe I have is she don't and won't use her oral skills anymore.

To seriously answer the question, Yes, she may have gotten better looking over time.

Many women don't peak out in their beauty until well past 40.

Part of that may be that they don't worry about the small stuff anymore.

Well,

You must have given her an upgraded part or a tune up since "The Wife" is an object.

If she was "my wife" it may be that you respect her as a person and true love is what gets better and is making her beauty more apparent.

L1A1,
I've only been married 5 years but we've been together the last 10. I totally agree that my wife has gotten even better looking with the years.
She's in better shape now than at any time in her life (way better than me unfortunately!).

Personally I think it's a little bit of both factors (objective and subjective) but whatever it is, keep it coming!

That's not to say that I don't find other women equally attractive, it's just that she's the 'total package' that really makes it difficult to imagine not being married to her.

Frankly she rocks!
