Lock your bolt to the rear. You should (may) be able to see some letters and numbers on the part of the barrel that is now exposed.
Quite a few years ago, I had a Garand that had "SA 9-43" on the barrel. I was told that particular rifle was made at Springfield Armory in September 1943. I'm not an expert by any means when it comes to Garands, but it seemed like a likely explanation. Of course, if your barrel has ever been changed, the info is not accurate. |
