I poked my head outside my house early this evening to see why there were two helicopters flying around making noise.  I realized they were news helicopters and that they were circling over an apartment complex next to my neighborhood.  I turn on the local news and see footage from one of the helicopters of Sheriff's Deputies and ambulance personnel dealing with the aftermath of a shooting.

I won't know more until the news tonight, but from what I heard, some guy brandished a gun in front of a deputy and ended up getting shot.

This is the first time I can remember anything as bad as this happening in my neighborhood (That I know about!).  I think there was a rape once a long time ago, and my sister's truck had its stereo stolen on two different occasions when parked in front of our house.

It’s things like this that make me glad I'm packin', even around the house!
