Looks like we're floating a $13.4 billion bond for "current revenue" payable over 15 years. Talk about fiscal irresponsibility. The dems want to make sure the state doesn’t tap their source of money for entitlement and feel-good programs. Tightening the belt is not an option for them. God knows how much this is going to cost us in the end. Those who voted for this thing should be taken out and shot.

Must be CalEdison... PG&E only has 14 blocks, and 14 hit yesterday, I am in #1, so I will probably get hit today, (again). Bought a small generator, we'll see how it goes...

Fire up the Gen, plug into the house, and flip the Circuit Breakers to isolate the main circuits I need to maintain power one...

I heard there are two options, either the PRK creates more bonds to cover expences, or write it off like a natural disaster.

The socialists are going with the bond, it doesen't affect thier spending money and forces the population to pay all costs. Estimated 10+ years, and the price of power will be 2 to 4 times what other states pay.

The other option, like when an earth quake strikes, dips into their spending programs, but won't screw the PRK economy over their F*ck-ups.

Just heard via instant email alert that [s]prisoners[/s] citizens of PRK just had another rolling blackout near Glendale/Pasadena areas not more than 30 minutes ago. Said it lasted a little over an hour. [:(!]

BTW... For their next trick, I see in TACTICAL KNIFES they want to ban large folding knifes as "switchblades".

After having heard Grey Davis(Sp)say that everybody else is the "enemy" for selling poor old KALI such expensive electricity, I think the best thing the USA can do is make a gift of Kali to Mexico and let THEM deal with the place and people!!! [-!-!-]

wooo hooo, it gets better and better, major gun laws hit the state along with power problems -- me thinks it will be hard for the democraps to keep there jobs when the elections come

everyone hates LA the land of disease infested, crime ridden, scum sucking, bull dykes, gangsters, illegal aliens, shitheads, assholes, and land of liberals and losers -- but at least they did it right and supply there own power, and at least to my knowledge have been helping to support the rest of the state by selling off surplus power.

blackouts? what blackouts? might be a while before it happens in LA, and if it does BIG DEAL its only an hour or 2, i can live with that

the city of south gate (small independent city in la county) rejected the building of a power plant in there area (not that its a great area anyway). the reason ? ...NIMBY. Not In My Back Yard

Uh, is anyone in PRK talking about building a new powerplant or twenty? All I hear is that Davis et al. are blaming everyone else (including Bush, for God's sake) for the state's self-created power problem.

Juice would not be so expensive if Kali could make some itself and increase supply. Of course if the state outlawed A/C, there would be no problem at all.

Hmmm, I think it is ironic that Kali made it virtually impossible to build new power plants there so as to "protect fragile Mother Earth", and now everybody is running out and buying gas generators to have power, which by the way pollute a hell of a lot more per kilowatt than does a power plant. I feel for all you trapped behind enemy lines, but I think it is time for you to call it a loss and move to more sensible states. It's too bad you didn't do it before the last census though. We don't need any more Kali freaks in Congress than we already have.

PG&E actually has lots more than 14, but only blocks 1-14 are subject to the blackouts. Other block numbers are assigned to "essential services". When outages are necessary, blocks (or subsections of blocks) are taken offline for 1 to 2 hour periods, in rotating, numerical order.

Kali's problems are just beginning. On the news today I saw where many large companies are planning on pulling out of CA because of energy prices/blackouts. I don't know of anyone in their right mind that would move to Kali with the problems it is having. Jobs move out then people follow them. Lots of overpriced housing available. Housing market glut, can't sell and can't get out of the mortgage. Banks forclose. Get out while you can.

I can only dream. The wife and I are in the market and that would certainly help us get the house we want.

Intel stated they will build no new plants in CA. I take that as a good sign.

mattja -- Block 50 means the "block" you are on has essential services (>100 bed hospital, police, fire, etc.) You are not subject to rolling blackouts. Unless they start blacking out essential services (which they could since these are required to have backup power).

Enjoy your block 50 status!

As for Intel not building in CA anymore, that was decided long before the blackouts...fabs need lots of water in addition to lots of power. They also need a "forgiving" waste management policy.

Trust me, waste from semiconductor manufacturing is nasty nasty stuff.

Actually, a blackout would be good. Perhaps it will send a message to my democrat neighbors how stupid they are for voting that way. Last time I was at the polling place I read the sheet listing the voter registration of all my neighbors and the only Republicans on the block are me and this old WWII vet four houses down the hill with a flag pole planted in his front yard and a WWII jeep out front. He flys the flag every day and parks the jeep out front because the neighbors don't like seeing "military vehicles". Sometimes it pays NOT to be a member of a homeowner's association.

James4, I think I read they stated they are not opening R&D and administrative offices as well. But it looks like Cisco still has plans for Coyote Valley.

No lie. When I worked at General Dynamics in Pomona they had 55-gallon drums of that trichloro-whatever circuit board etch lining the hallways of the factory. A lot of those missile guidance chips and subsystems were manufactured in-house. As far as I know no one got sick, but that was 1980 and things were somewhat lax in those days.

So, I guess I should be thankful for hearing fire engines all night. :)

Arc Angel, some cities in silicon valley are ahead of you on the generators. They don't want companies installing backup generators because of the noise and pollution.

Take off and nuke it from orbit. It's the only way to make sure.

Wow! after reading some of these threads about Kali, I don't see how some of you people keep from running amok in your state legislature. Tenn has a few problems, but Kali really takes the cake.

Honestly, how do you live there? I'm not trying to be a smart ass, I just don't get it.
