ATF considers this a BUSINESS license.  It is important to give this appearance.  Set reasonable business hours, part time is okay.  Often weekends are used, as well as Monday eve after work, say 6 to 9.  Even with the brutally successful effort to reduce the # of FFL's the ATF is far from the point of having an agent camped on the doorstep of each FFL.  Learn the laws, obey the laws, PERIOD.  If you have your license in your home you give up the IVth Amendment entirely.  You give them the right to search your home, in its entirety, whenever they please, for any or no reason.  24 hours a day, 365, etc.  Keep this is mind if you have a family.  Stories abound such as the one where the guy came home and found his front door standing open and his safe door cut off and leaned against the wall beside his safe, guns inside and a note attached which said--"ATF, nothing found."  This is not likely, but possible.  My own experience with them has been downright pleasant.  Their personnel have been helpful, polite and friendly.  I am also in strict compliance.  Be very careful about the local zoning laws as you must initial this special on the application.  They have a list of communities with an ordnance prohibiting such businesses and if you lie you will be issued the license and subsequently can be arrested on an easy felony charge for giving false info.  A felony is a felony to the government.  Easy ones first.  After saying this, I highly recommend that you obtain the license.  Many doors open up that you don't even know exist.  Just be careful and scrupulously obey all laws.  Call them with any questions.  Comply, comply, comply.
