this one is easier than the m1a vs. fal. go for the fal (metric) - but a good one, don;t be tempted by these bargain basement $500 jobbies - there is one on an imbel reciever with the proper plastic handguard for around $800ish -that looks like a deal.

Again, easy one. FAL hands down. Cheap mags, cheap and plenty of parts. Paid $550 for mine, century gun on an Imbel reciever, put another two hundred dollars in it and now it's fine tuned and shoots great.

Agreed - get a metric FAL. Hands down the better choice.

For some reason this did not post.Levi2 get the AR-10, it's a great rifle, very accurate.
Big Guns,what kind of FAL is that,not Israeli but maybe Aussie?What ever the case it looks good,I like the wooden fore arm. I don't know much about FALs but I'm thinking of getting one just for the heck of it. |

An ARS T48 Clone. I wanted a FAL, couldn't afford a pre-ban, and wanted as close to an American rifle as possible.

The barrel is only 18", and the real T-48 was the standard 21", but I liked the shorter barrel. It does look like a short barreld Izzy, though! i just went through this same thing. i really liked the look of the cetme. After talking to several folks that owmed one i went with the fal. Everyone said they were "OK" but nothing great. They all said if they had to do it over it would be the FAL. ALso parts are much more available and mags MUCH CHEAPER. 9.00 vs 50.00.
I ended up with a century l1a1. It was cheap but so far has been reliable and a decent shooter. |

Get the FAL. MUCH easier to field strip, more ergonomic, usually a better trigger. Mags are cheaper too.
