OK, my CAV 15 should be in today or tomorrow, and I have to go pick it up...so here is a contest.
Everyone can take a guess as to how long my NICS check will be delayed. Everytime I have been run, I get delayed, so why not have some fun with it? Winner gets a USGI 30rd mag, 95% Labelle. Winners in non-free states get the 10rd mag that came with my Bushmaster. Make your guess in hours, from 1 to 36, I will round off to the closest hour. I could just use a pistol permit to bypass it, but I feel like making them work. Good Luck! |

I've been delayed for a few days now, but I'm gonna guess 2 hours.

I think you should be makeing this contest in days not hours. If you want it to be hours then I had fun when I was 21.

52 minutes (ok, 1 hour). Now is this like the Price is Right, closest without going over??

Only taking guess's up untill the point that I post a start time.

I say 1 hour. I have never been delayed,(1/2hour was max) so it is hard to imagine anything more than one hour. Has anyone else here ever been delayed for more than 30 minutes on a NICS? I guess it depends on a few things, including the state that runs your check. In PA anything more than 15-20 minutes is unusual at my local gun shop. I think 2 people already guessed one hour, I am not in it for the prize, but for curiosities sake.

I'm going help boost your moral and say you take it home in less than 1 hour after it's called in. For your sake (and mine) I hope this works-out.
Good Luck |

6 hours. I think shorter this time, but 1 through 5 are already taken...

15 MINUTES, I have never been delayed. The longest was the man hung up the phone and gave me my gun. Try using your pistol permit they won't do the NICS in NC if you have a pistol permit.

It seems to be like that all over the state. Every once in a while you hear of soemone where they never call back so the sale goes through anyway. |

View Quote I used my last permit over the weekend, but I just like to tie them up anyway, I am in no hurry as I won't be able to shoot it till Sunday anyway. I find it very interesting that I am delayed every time, makes you wonder exactly what they are looking at. I have absolutley nothing in my background other than a few traffic violations, yet they have to go check something that must be in thier files ever single f*cking time. |

32 Hours... they'll stretch it out, and just putz with you...
Hey, I am in the PRK, but I'd love to get a USGI... |

22 hours (because all the good numbers were already taken [:)])

37 hours
My understanding is that the delay is more related to how common your name is than anything else. If your name matches or is cloes to that of felons or fugitives in your area, then your approval will take a while. My name is rare, and I have never had a delay on any of the 5 NICS checks I've gone through. |

Sorry about that I cahged it to 10. Thanks for telling me, at least now I have a chance!

Garand Shooter...
I am gonna go with: 3 1/2 hours [sniper] [b]The Sniper |

Ussually I find my unusual name bothersome, (long & German), but when buying guns it is ideal. The more odd the name, the less time it takes in Colorado. My poor friend, Alan Smith, takes forever.
One fellow I know had the same name and almost the same SSN as a child molester. People treated him really badly after they "found" out about him. He had to bring in his actual record to convince them. (nothing on it) |
