Anyone have any recomindations on long term ammo storage.  Have been putting loose .223 ammo in plastic bag lined Govt. ammo cans with a few silica gel pacts to stop moisture.

Also have a lot of Federal American Eagle .223, still in the box with the red plastic inserts.  Any suggestions on storing this kind of ammo.  Shoud I pull it out of the box and put it in an ammo can, leave it in the box and put it in an ammo can, or just leave it in the factory cardboard box cases.

Any other suggestions for long term ammo storage???

As long as you get to your stock within 25 to 40 years I wouldn't worry too much. Keep it clean, cool and dry and you'll have little to worry about.

$5 worth of ammo can will hold about 1000 rounds.
