Turn it into the store and you just made the employees day because it's going right into their pocket.

Go enjoy a nice meal.

That's what I told her but she thinks the PD will take a couple of hours to send a unit out to the store.

I find cash in my parking lot often. kinda strange, if it is ten or more
I replay the video and figure out who dropped it.
Your case it different. Just keep it.

Shit happens. Unless you know it's from that store,it's yours. Or you could go back in a day or so and inquire if somebody lost some cash.

IDK OP.

Every time the Wife and I find money on the ground we pocket that shit.

If you're stupid enough to lose it you don't need it.

Yes, I am that guy. If I found a briefcase full of money I would take it, bury it and say NOTHING.

No ID? Well, turn it into the store, make sure you let a manager and witness, customer service desk employee, see it. Otherwise, a dirty employee or dirty manager are going to pocket it. Police could hold onto it, but most people looking for their lost money will go to a business they were at.

If you saw the person drop it, notify them. If not, you just got yourself some money. There's no way to get it back to the right person unless there's video and someone knows them.

My rule of thumb is, if in a wallet or identifiable in some way, give it back/turn it in. If I see it falling from a person, or most likely person, give it back/call their attention to it.

But in a public lot, with nobody that it could credibly be associated with, I'd keep it. As a poster above noted, giving it to the store will make the manager or employees day. The police are going to do nothing. (maybe take it and tell you they are looking into it, never to be seen again.)

Keep it.

Think of it as an idiot tax for who dropped it...

The person won't remember and the manager will end up keeping it...

Or whatever

No.

Parking lots are fair game.

She can leave a note that asks what denominations were lost and go from there, but party on Wayne and Garth.

Yeah, just cash and no id, receipt, etc.  The police told her to turn it into the store manager.  They said they may not take it and to call them back if they don't take it.

I found a few hundred dollars in the floor at Subway once. Picked it up and walked out to the car.   Looked back and saw a lady frantically looking around.  I went back and gave it to her.   No way I could keep it.   My friend thought I was crazy.

Hi, I was at that parking lot earlier and I dropped some self portraits of myself and a few of my friends.

IM for some instruction on how to get that returned to me.

cash? No ID, wallet, purse, etc????

Fuck that Ima keep it...or find a worthy bum and give it to them.....or some hard up case I know.....probably just buy ammoes with it

BUT, if there was some form of ID with it......I'd make it a mission to find that person, especially if it is a hot wife that can make it rain

Tell the store manager that you found some money in the parking lot but dont tell him how much. Leave your phone number and if the owner can identify how much it is, return it to them. If you dont get a call, keep the money.

I found $40 laying in the middle of the grocery aisle this year.

I just went up to the store's customer service desk and left my name/number and told them that if someone reported that they lost some money, they could contact me.

I didn't tell them how much or the denominations.

About 15 minutes later, someone called and asked if I had found $40.  They were very happy to get it back.

Not true.
Some years ago, I dropped a hundred dollar bill in the supermarket parking lot. Noticed it missing when I got home. Called the supermarket. Sure enough, it had been found by a ten year old boy.
He and his mother turned it in and left their phone number with the manager.

I collected the money, called the finder and took a twenty-five dollar reward over to his house.

Good, honest folks exist.

I found $100 in the parking lot of a small local garage owned by a family friend. It wasn't hard to figure out whose it was so he called the last customer and it was hers. She gave me $5.00!  If I had found that in a Walmart parking lot, I probably would have kept it.

The store manager put it in a deposit box and said nobody had called yet.  Someone will probably pocket it but that's beyond my wife's control now.  My daughters were with my wife so just another reason to turn the money in.
