Why not a quick jab to the back of he head with a pointy knife and be done with it?

Just watched another execution scene on Game of Thrones.  Then there is all the drama on Hang 'Em High.

Why bother with all the nonsense of a hanging, or any other elaborate execution method.  Chemical, electrocution, firing squad, etc.

In our modern times, it seems the way to go is by inert gasses, such as Nitrogen or Helium. No pain.  No drama.  Just a painless death.

Done right, a hanging is the best execution method. They had tables worked out based on weight, that gave length of rope, height of drop, perfectly to break the neck instantly. Rope is cheap.

WHY not just pure nitrogen gas?

Take a breath, 78% is nitrogen.

If you were to start breathing pure nitrogen, you would not feel a thing, just pass out and die a little while later.

Some people were very, very good at it.

And some....




Well..

Because if you desrve to die it should be a painful and public death.

Done correctly, hanging is painless.
