Most of what people believe about the "Wild West" they learned on TV during the 50's and 60's. All men did not carry a Colt in a fast draw rig. "Fast draw" was started by Hollywood in the 50's. Crime was less in Dodge City than in New York at the time, and way less than it is now. There were very few bank robberies because there were very few banks. Train robberies, yes a few. About 400 settlers were killed by Indians and there were no Indian attacks on circled wagon trains that I know of. The "Wild West" is a movie/TV genre, not a real time/place.

when i lived in the bronx (da bronx), you could go to quite a few of the local bodegas
in the neighborhood and ask for the "special" of the day yep....not salami not pastrami just a nice hot under the table heater, ....."to go" of course, you had to be known as not the law and....cash and carry i dont know what these people are all worked up about this has been "business as usual" for decades funny....this wouldnt work for achmed, since he would be tagged as an outsider |

National reciprocity will destroy most of the state laws with heavy restrictions on carry or even possession of a pistol. It will be hard to defend in court requiring multiple character references to even touch a pistol when people can carry in that same state by just filling out a form.
Of course this won't stop people on our side from doing their best to stop national reciprocity because they fear some national standard for issuing carry permits. We are too smart for our own good. Liberals support anything that moves there agenda forward while we have people who fight every little step out of fear. It is no wonder liberals win while bitch about laws we don't see as 100% perfect. |

It was a constant mantra of the left in Ohio when CCW was going through, "WILD WEST, WILD WEST, IT'S GONNA BE THE WILD WEST!!!". They made it out like, "If this goes through, the streets will run red with blood and scream with the sounds of gunfire and the lamentation of our non-gender specific lamentors!" Then it passed, and nobody ever heard or talked about it again. It's funny, sometimes when I meet new non gun people and they eventually realize I carry semi regularly, they say "that's legal?" and then sort of say, "Weird," and shrug. It's a non issue now.

When the Concealed Handgun Law was passed here in Texas in 1995, I was promised blood in the streets, and shootouts on every corner in response to everyday disagreements.
I was promised THE SAME THING when we got Open Carry passed. I'm still waiting. |
