That the US is number 32 on the list of freedom of speech countries. Ahead of us, 8th or so on the list: Sweden. Yeah, that place where you can be jailed for speaking out against the Rapefugee crisis.
Additionally, he called the US a Democracy. That must be a pretty recent change. I figured I would have heard on the news if we stopped being a Constitutional Republic. |

What your professor is saying is that our low ranking is because we have TO MUCH freedom and TOO MUCH free speech.

Give him an ear full take the Dminus at least you pass and get credits

Those kind of claims usually come from some NGO or UN committee and get regurgitated by others, that once you do your research on them, you will find out they are completely political and usually leftist in origin.

Your professor is pulling that number from a freedom of the press questionnaire that went out to journalists asking about freedom of the press. It was a stupid fucking thing, and your professor should feel bad about being a twatwaffle. Tell him I said so.

What Subject & School?
If he doesn't remember, it's in the PLEDGE OF ALLEGENCE the words "And to the Republic, for which it stands..." I'm sure he does have you stand, turn to the flag, place your hand over your heart and give it every days doesn't he??? I had a Philosophy class "Business Ethics" in which the long haired and bearded lecturer told us on Day One that , "Communism is the Only Just system" This is in 1987 while the Cold War is still active and The Eastern Block is "The Evil Empire"... |

Those classes blow.
I took it at a community college and then it wouldn't transfer so I had to fucking take it again. The most worthless class. Basically go research something, put together a report, present it and let other people shit on you. 2 weeks later, do it again, 5 or 6 worthless research reports a semester. I wish I had that money and time back. Somewhere along the way, I changed computers, went from a PC to a Mac because I needed a mac for other classes, so I couldn't even recycle my old shit at the time. |

I don't care what you guys think that professor gets points in my book for working Lichtenstein into todays lesson. Personally, I don't think enough people really know enough about the virtues of that tiny nation.

And I bet you didn't say a thing to him about it tough guy. Why start a thread about it?

I know this is a gun board but............... his point is moot because without the 2ND and the populous not having firearms, their "freedom" can evaporiate overnight, so technically they were never free in the first place. Just allowed the illusion of it.
So that in itself make the US the most free country by default. If we are gonna generalize, then generalize son! Use their logic against them. Pffftt Sweden? Yeah sure. If you've ever been there you'd not have been able to contain your laughter when he said that. |

The thing to keep in mind is that every country in the world has freedom of speech. It's the freedom after the speech that is in question in most countries.

I had a history professor claim that 1984 was applicable to Trump because of his violations of the rule of law and his subversive use of media.

College, lol. Enjoy your professors enjoying their soapboxes.

Ask your professor if he knows which country is the world's largest democracy. Post the answer.

You may as well get used to listening to the commie propaganda, OP. It only gets worse. This is the unfortunate reality of higher education.

Professors: people who can't succeed in any type of private business. I think many male professors also get off on being around the co-eds.

I'm a senior. I haven't had any propaganda in my major classes (engineering). I had one TA in Freshman Writing who pushed the Global Warming routine pretty hard, and now this. College really isn't as bad as you people make it out to be. View Quote |

Yup. One professor I had threw out there that he was a retired military officer on the first day. I was thinking that he might be cool to talk with, as I'd just separated from the same branch. Fast-forward to the end of the first class session...I couldn't wait to get out of his classroom. No joke...he spent entire class sessions talking about the benefits that the Greek (fraternity and sorority) system brings to the campus. That and flirting with the sorostitutes in the class. You want to make a productive college professor useless? Give them tenure. The guy I mentioned above made it clear that he was retiring in a year and put zero effort into actually teaching. View Quote By the same token, I had a guy in MBA school that said we were his last class before retiring. He handed the syllabus to us, gave us a link to his website with all the power points, practice tests, and exams and pretty much said "that's it, I'm out." I got a good grade in that class since it was open book and took about 2 weeks in the evenings to work my way through, but doubt I really learned much about actual text book marketing, which is really no loss anyway. |

This is why I'm happy to teach engineering. At least there's an expectation that there be a shred of objectivity in what I teach
