A friend's dad won it at a raffle and was looking to sell (legit, not stolen - I belong to the same club).  I offered $300 and he agreed.  I bought it sight unseen (new in box), so I'm not sure of the exact model, but from the description I was given I'm thinking it sells for $824 at Wal-Mart. https://www.walmart.com/ip/VIZIO-M50-C1-50-4K-Ultra-HD-2160p-Class-LED-Smart-HDTV-4K-x-2K/43310255

My current TV is an old school 32 inch Toshiba tube TV that weighs about 150 pounds, so I figure this will be a pretty huge upgrade.  The screen has been 'twitching' real bad for a while now, it has no antenna and I haven't ever bothered with cable, so I figure it's time for it to go anyway.

So what did I buy?  Is this a good TV?  Anything I have to worry about?  Will it be spying on me with all the pron I'm sure I'll be watching?  Anything I need to know about?

In before the "be poor somewhere else" comments.  They aren't super expensive TVs but my Vizio has lasted longer than my Samsung 3D TV.

For $300 you probably did pretty good.

Vizio is GTG. My 42" is over 7 years old and runs perfectly. Would not hesitate to buy another one.

Pretty small but good resolution.

You should watch about 4-6 feet away from that screen which is typically much closer that people think.

4 feet from a 50" tv? Yea no thanks.

My vizio has a great picture, and has lasted very well.  I paid lots more than $300 for it though.  You did very well.

Thank you all for the replies!

I figured I did okay on the price - and it's past time for the old one to go anyway, but it's good to hear it from those more knowledgeable than me!

So how will this contraption actually be spying on me?  And how do I keep it from doing so or make it stop?

And yes, I'm rather dreading getting rid of the old one!  But I got that for about $20 from an old lady who just wanted to get rid of it, so I certainly got my money's worth out of it.

This. 6 feet at the bare minimum for a 50". My 55" is at 8 feet.

I love Smart Cast.

As far as I know, it's one of the only ways out there to stream HDR content. Couldn't be easier.

It all depends on the room and viewing distance.
