I've never taken 4K video with an iPhone, and I was curious how it would turn out with zero attempt at anything resembling decent lighting. Or audio. Or camera work. Or...

I didn't know what to film, so after a little too much bourbon, I got hungry and decided to cook something. It's more or less a recipe I snagged from Sun Basket (one of those meal delivery places). Wife is filming, and was amused.

I actually referred to a light coating of lard as a "dusting". And I probably got raw chicken cooties in my container of kosher salt. And I almost burned my fingers. And I think I called it "Baby Kale Spinach" instead of Baby Kale. Like I said...drunk cooking.

Anyhoo, I thought three or four of you would find this mildly amusing.

For a test, I'm going to try and do a bunch of editing on it with my wife's old 2012 MacBook Pro (at member S_A_C's request) to see how painful it would be. But for now, here's the raw footage.

I think I'm actually more cognizant of it with a good buzz, because I'm so paranoid that the inevitable is going to occur.

I honestly had no idea how paranoid people were about raw poultry, until I started posting pics of the process on this site. Shit, the only reason I even pulled out that stupid white plastic cutting board was to head those comments off at the pass. Normally, I just do it on my wood board, then clean it off before continuing. I only did this because I was being filmed, and I almost acknowledged as much on video.

And I still got shit.

Jesus Christ people, it's a kitchen not an operating room. I've been cooking for my wife and kids every night for going on 19 years. Nobody has ever got sick. I'm pretty sure I've got this.

Cool vid. Just spitballing here but  I was thinking shallot, kerry gold butter and perhaps a splash of liquor(flambe would have been a nice touch)  in the pan to release the fond and use up that chicken fat and olive oil, then a quick toss of the kale in to slightly wilt it.

Cucumber and yes, that was mint (and cilantro). I don't have a cooking channel (there are plenty of really good ones on YouTube already), but I'm glad you were entertained. Maybe I'll do another one someday.

The radio thing isn't very regular these days (life keeps getting in the way ), but when I'm doing it, it can be seen at http://www.rambling-geek.com. There's usually a thread going while it's active.

If you decide to make this, definitely follow the suggestions posted by Thedude27 above (adding some butter/fat, splash of liquor, shallots, wilting the baby kale a bit). That would be even more delicious.

Nope. Well, no more than I'd have on any electric stove, really. It's got a smooth bottom, so it heats evenly enough. And that glass is pretty tough - unless you're a total retard with your cookware, you're not going to scratch it up or anything.

That said, I really miss having a gas range. My house doesn't even have gas run to the property.

It took me a while to get used to the differences. I never even used to look at the dials, I just watched the flame.

I guess I am a little OCD while cooking. I wash the knife between cutting meat and non meat items and wash my hands constantly. I also use different colored cutting board for vegetables, non chicken, and chicken.
