So presently I've been interested in any thing Japanese firearm related.

I really thought the revolvers were a cool safe queen I could get into for cheap. They also seem very well built for the price, better than modern mim ruger/Smith junk.
That rifle seems to be very well built and shoots aweome.

Anyone else buy Japanese arms? Also makes me feel hipster because I rarely see a Japanese collection.

Military markings? Made for export?

All I mess with are WW-2 Jap. military.

I had all 3 makers of AR180s

So the Howa was/is the only Japanese firearm I remember owning

Do you mean like Browning shotguns and rifles (made by Miroku)? Howa and Weatherby Vanguard rifles? Smith and Wesson auto shotguns from the 1980s?

I own a Browning Citori and three Japanese SKB shotguns.

Four out of these five were made in Japan (the one on the left is Italian):

Post war police revolver for the Japanese Prefecture Police.

I collect WW2 weapons and militaria, including some Japanese. Here are some of mine.

Type 99 Arisaka short rifle

Type 38 Arisaka carbine

Type 14 Nambu pistol

Type 94 Nambu pistol

Browning Model 1910, Japanese marked. Made early 1940

Type 35 NCO Gunto sword

Type 97 hand grenade (rescued by a police EOD friend from a pile of stuff about to be blown up and burned)

Have some bayonets too but don't have pics handy.

I assume the grenade is inert? Or they actually let you get a stamp for the DD?

I figured as much as the Japanese could not own guns unless they were kept in a prefecture armory. Same with family swords for a long while after the war. I heard that they can possess the swords in their homes now, no idea about personal guns though.

I'd buy one of those revolvers if one came my way. What caliber are they in?

Its a Browning x bolt made by the Japanese Miroku arms. Scope is a nightforce br 8-32 ( wanted a long range varmit plinker.) he quality is impressive and the buttstock is amazing soft. I plan on Buying one in 308 (that ones a 223

All 38, I think that's the only caliber they creates them in.

The double action is a bit heavy/creepy but single is literally old school Smith smooth and light.

Yes, the grenade has the explosive removed and the fuse has been popped. Back in WW2 a serviceman could bring back deactivated hand grenades. The Japanese ones seem to be the most prevalent, by far. Imagine that same scenario today. "Triggering" would be on a scale so epic it would make Hiroshima look like a pack of fireworks.

I bought a really pretty Concentric Circle Type 38 6.5mm for $100

shot a good score on a regulation target at 600 yards

then gave it to a friend

I wouldn't mind owning anything made by Miroku, just based on my experience owning Brownings and reading about the history of the factory.

They are a mix between Colt and S&W. After WWII, the US trained the Japanese Police Forces and brought over the idea of revolvers for police work. When the Occupation ended, Miroku cranked them out. The Police Forces went back to their pre war ideas and used Semi-Autos.

The guns were then imported to the US and sold.

I want to hunt one down. They're damn good wheel guns.

Handguns are a no go. Shotguns can be owned and rifles are much harder to get. Ownership is generally consigned to the Baby Boomer generation since the only legit reason for owning is hunting and today's youth doesn't hunt in Japan

It's a tactical model or some such. Theyre the only models with 20" barrels and factory threaded." 20" is all I need anyway especially with 223 and a threaded barrel was a must.

I also put a can on there and it's loads of fun, so much quieter than a canned ar15. I'm pretty much sold on the browning/miroku bolt gun market. I had to order one because my lgs didn't have it in stock but I would recommend them to anyone. Trigger has absolutely no creep and is probably only 4 lbs but I didn't test it. Very nice trigger out of the box.

I will look into those Bushnell. I know Zeiss terra are Japanese made for a nice price tag. Have one on my 300blk upper. But yeah I'll check out those Bushnell thanks.

Japanese Type 99 light machine gun

Don't have a pic of my personal one handy, but I've got a papered Jap T99 LMG. It was made in February 1943 by the Hitachi Arsenal (Yup, the same Hitachi we know today) under Kokura supervision. Here's another Type 99 LMG being fired.

I've also got a drop-in aftermarket 7.62x39 kit. It uses modified AK mags. The barrel is a modified Czech ZB-26 with a new chamber welded on.

I think Browning sells some stuff made in Japan. I have a HOWA but I think it's mostly US made. I have two japanese semi auto shotguns, both broke because the metal cap over the spring under the hammer popped off. One was a smith and wesson rebrand, I forget the other one

Browning does a lot of "Off Catalog / SHOT Show Special" guns.

My Browning BPS High Capacity is one such gun. Made by Miroku in 2006-2007. (Right above the KSG)

It was a limited run and discontinued fairly quickly.

If I read it right, the "suppressor ready" .308 is 1:10, while the "Hog hunter" is 1:12 but otherwise they looked identical....
