Bought a 1985 Chevy 3/4 ton diesel pickup in '00. Ran it until '12, then sold it...because my father was selling his '94 Dodge Cummins dually and I bought that. Still running the Dodge.

Also, bought an '03 F-350 7.3L Powerstroke and am still running it.

My experience tells me all three manufacturers do a pretty good job of it.

Toyota followed by GM, followed by Ford, followed by RAM.

I see so few Nissans on the road I'm not convinced they exist.

Toyota by far if you include the Tacoma.

My vote is GM and 2nd is Ford. I have Ford work trucks for my guys and I've had Chevy's and GMC's. Hundreds of thousands of miles of experience and hard use. Both have help up ok.
The F-250 we had had over 300K miles and was showing no sign of letting up until one of my guys had a head on that totaled it.
The 3 GM's I've personally used since 2010 only had 1 trans issue at 155k.

I only buy American badged vehicles, I won't own Jap badged shit.
For pick-up trucks I've only owned Ford and Chevy.
My Ford has been a far far better pick-up than my Chevy.

Fuck GM and all who work for them!  Never shall I own one of their broke down POS made by Hillary supporting fucking douchebag UAW members.  May fuck be upon them for the trash they sell.  Last GM product I owned put me on the roadside at least once a quarter.  I took a loss trading it in with smile for a Nissan.  That has been twenty years ago and since then I have only driven Toyotas or Nissans and have never been left on the side of the road due to mechanical issue.  First poster so didn't nail it in this thread.  Fuck Dodge and Ford too.  I'll point out on the doll where GM touched me, IN THE MOTHERFUCKING WALLET REPEATEDLY!  FUCK GM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

late 90s early 2000s Toyota couldn't be beat

mid 2000s GM

now Ram, GM, and Ford are all decent.  Toyota sucks balls

Talking modern trucks, Toyota by a pretty huge margin.

I have owned two GM products in my life and they were both lemons.

I have had a few Fords and really don't have much too complain about.

I have had a Tacoma now for 14 years and it has been the best of all of them, and it was made in the U.S.A.

One of my Fords was foreign made, in  Canada.

The actual quality surveys say GM and dodge beat Ford.  Cantvremember where Toyota landed...upper half I think

I got my brother's 2001 GMC Sierra when he passed. 230k miles now and I'd drive it to Alaska and back without thinking twice. It's the fourth GM truck I've owned and all have been virtually problem free.

Most reliable used trucks

Three Ferds, one Toyoda.

I bought an F150 new in 2004. It has 260,000 miles on it and has cost me hundreds of dollars in repairs. Hundreds.

'98 F-150 in the driveway has 190k.

Brakes twice, tires 3x, starter, alternator, plugs once.

That's it.

Toyota

Part of my job for the last twenty years includes managing a fleet of Ford trucks, from E and F150's to F650's and based on my experience, you couldn't give me one.

Dodge makes a fine truck if you don't need a front end under your truck.  Under real world use in Northern Nevada we were replacing the front ends in 3/4 ton and one ton trucks every 30,000 miles.  Fucking junk.  As far as GM, Lucas electronics ain't got shit on the absolute shit quality and reliability of GM electronics.  For a light duty truck Toyota wins.

my 3 Chevy 1500s with the 5.3 have been solid.

my 94 dodge Cummins was shit.

My 2004 F350 6.0 was a solid truck, but I only had it for 34k miles.
the engine needed some seals replaced, but warranty covered it.

Everybody makes winners and turds. I think there would be more winners if the .gov quit constantly rolling out more and more ridiculous standards every few years.

I've personally had good luck with Fords. My dads 83 F150 is pushing 700,000 miles on its original 300 I6 and my own Crown Vic and F150 are both well over 250,000 miles each. I've never found GM's or Chrysler's offerings visually appealing so I never really considered buying one. The new Tundra gives me a boner and one day I might just buy one.

Badged. Ok- fair enough.
Toyotas are built in Texas. The rest, likely Mejico. But. Not badged as American...
