Hey All Northern Kali members,

KQED - the public TV station in the bay area is running a special on gun trafficing in the bay area followed by online discussion. I think as many of us as possible should make our voices heard!

Tonight at 9pm pst on channel 9.

Those in free states should join in also!

I was reading the stuff on the links.  The typical citings of flawed and biased studies.  Media links were all cnn, pbs, and npr.  Not much of a balanced presentation. Of course, what would you expect.

Ugh.

Ask me how many times I've seen KQED stickers on Volvos driving down Highway 24. Once in a while they have something good, for instance, the independent short films, but for the most part they're simply a mouthpiece for the guilt ridden yuppies living in Lafayette. My parents quit contributing to those socialists years ago.

I just finished watching it. Lucky for me I had 3 beers and a pack of Ritz crackers in my stomach otherwise I would have barfed.

Let's see, SOG International is bad for not assuming that jerk was selling guns illegally; mail order gun sales are bad; home FFLs should be banned; we need a national database of all guns and gun owners; the ATF are good people and should be trusted if not given more money; Congress and the NRa are bad for supporting gun owners; doctors know what's best for gun owners; Oakland gangs don't kill prople, guns kill people; you shouldn't have a gun in your home because you may get mad and shoot someone; anyone can get a class 01 FFL and sell guns; your neighbor could be selling guns illegally; and finally, Lorcin guns are really, really bad guns.

And just for that, I'm going out tomorrow and buying that Glock 21 I've been thinking about for the past 2 months. :)

mattja,

Yeah, that about sums it up.

I was surprised to know that the Oakland city manager and administration is backing Project Exile. Kind of gives me a little hope.

mattja-  well, they are right about the Lorcins. [;)]

oe- project exile is NOT a good thing.  It can be turned on us pretty quickly.  Do a search on it here and you will find lots of info.

Luckily nobody watches pbs anymore so this will die as quickly as it came, only influencing folks who hate guns already.

In case any of you guys want to read a transcript of the after show discussion, here is a link to it on my cheesy homepage. I logged in as Matt. By the way, the ATF guy wasn't saying much.

Ratters,
In bay area politics it has, in the recent past , been the strategy of local governments to go after the law abiding citizen and/or legitimate business.

When I saw that Oakland is pushing for Project Exile, it showed a shift in the way local government is viewing the violence problem. By shifting the focus to criminals.

I did the search that you suggested, and maybe I'm just dense, but I don't understand how punishing criminals will affect me negatively.

operator error
the answer to your question is with so many gun laws and most of them unconstitutional your bound to violate them. passing through areas you shouldn't have them by law and somehow get caught being one. exile leaves no room for reason.

Thanks double tap, that is what I wanted him to find.  Gun laws, especially here in CA are real easy to break if you are not informed.  I don't want a federal prison sentece because I improperly transported my handgun in the back of my car or forgot to put the lock back on the assault weapon's case.

It is good to go after criminals, but remember, in the minds of many we are criminals.  Why else would they make us register like sex offenders?

you guys in CA, give it up, the state is gone, you'll never recover it, way too outnumbered, they will come for you. I got out early, sometimes I miss my homeland, but I cherish my freedom much more.  We need you people in the free states now to reinforce and keep the remaining states free. some of the anti's are bleeding out of CA and trying to impose their views on the free states, and we need your help here, P.S. when you leave, please bring the flag.
