So what the hell. Let's give 'em a chance. Let's  start with names to replace those numbers, here's "Nick": I NOW HAVE HIM! He's such a nice dog. Some one give him a home.

Nick is an incredible dog.

# 275
Brindle Mix
Male
Already altered
3 years old
45 lbs
Friendly with people and dogs. ETA: UTD on all shots. Heartworm negative.
Date to Adopt: 7/17/17

This guy is described as friendly but hyper. Please don't rule him out just yet! He might just need a little attention and to get out of dog jail for him to settle down!
Lets call him "Blake".

Nope. In keeping with my promise to always do my best for both the dogs and the people That may adopt from me I am removing this dog from consideration. I met him yesterday and will not recommend him for adoption.
# F-31
Black Mix

NOPE. TANNER IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE.
Aaannd... lets throw "Tanner" in there as well.

Let me add that if you are even remotely considering one of these fine fellows contact me and let me know how I can help. I can offer some basic training, cheap medical care (shots, worming, heart worm prevention, neutering for the one that's not), transport, socialization, etc.

ETA:I couldn't wait and had to take him out of the shelter even though another rescue "claimed him. Not sure how that works but they couldn't take him for 2 weeks so he was still in danger. I step in and save him and have no rights to the dog. I'd fight for him but this group takes lots of in danger dogs out of KY so I don't want to piss them off.

This big boy is super urgent!

"This beautiful 3 yr old (neutered) Leonberger look alike is facing euthanasia at anytime. Owner surrendered so has no hold time:( dog and kid friendly, has lived outside his whole life so in need of a good bath and brushing. Called the gentle giant. Needs rescue or an adopter ASAP."

"Owner surrender" means the shelter has no obligation to keep the dog. They can be put down immediately. The shelter is full. Somebody needs this dog.

No shooting range.

2 acres on the end of a private lane, tucked into an adjacent 85 acres of woods. 1 acre of yard fenced into 3 areas (soon). 14x28 foot kennel building next to the house. It's a double wide we gutted and am still working on. 3 br. 2 bath. 1600 sq ft. 550 sq ft of deck in progress. I'll post pics when it's less of a disaster.

Fritz, the Leonberger is going to stay with me till mid August. I'm fostering him until he can go to another rescue in Minnesota. They were going to put him down (there is no mandatory hold on owner surrenders i.e. possible instant euthanasia.

I placed another dog, a Great Pyrenees mix but the owner reneged after arrangements were made.

I guess I'm "easing" back into this rescue biz slowly.

I pick up Fritz tomorrow.

I'm also considering this guy:

"Rescue friends & All friends! This sweet adorable full blooded GSD Max is needing ur help! He is living outside in this horrible heat w/hardly no shade & on a chain & he's miserable ?? Owner has agreed to surrender him if we can find a foster/rescue/adopter! But we can't pull him until we do ?? So he still remains outside as of now. Can anyone find it in their heart to let him crash in the A/c for a bit till we can find him his new furever home!? He's around 1-2 yrs old.. friendly.. not neutered.. unsure of cats/or small animals bc he's been on a chain. Kid friendly as well!"

This one I'm considering training as a service dog for a vet suffering with PTSD.

He has a meet and greet with someone on Sunday. I'm second in line. His rescuer deals with lots of GSD and has agreed to get me a few to train!

We'll, I  have Fritz in hand. Smelliest dog ever but very sweet and gentle. At the vets now. He weighs 78 pounds. Boy needs some sammiches!

OK folks. I'll put up $100* towards any adoption, transportation, or medical fees to get the available puppys adopted.
Whether its for spaying/neutering, whatever, Joker1 does this out of the love for dawgs, and I'm willing to help.

Hey, he turned this...

*NOTE...
This money goes to Joker1 for all the expenses related to adoption of ANY dog he list, it ain't cheap to do what he does (and he does it for free).
NO I will not send you $100 for saying you'll take a puppy.

GS, very nice! Thank you! Tomorrow I have to run and pick up kennel panels and set up some more dog runs. Tues, if he's still around I am going to try and get Nick, the brindle I posted. With the new facility and my regained capabilities I can get a dog fixed, UTD on shots, wormed and 2 years heartworm preventative. I should even have a little left over to fatten him up!

Basically this becomes a free dog to the right home!

Get a dog!

Fritz after the 2nd of 5!!! comb outs.

Well Fritz is a gorgeous pup and Joker1 has been graciously keeping us updated on his progress. We told him early-on in the process that we'd give Fritz a home, but through NO fault of Joker1's, a large/fancy rescue group has claimed him and will be transporting him form KY to MN. We contacted the rescue group to tell them we were prepared to give Fritz a loving home including transporting him and paying all of his vet expenses.... Essentially "This dog is already rescued"

But it fell on deaf ears.

We tried to even adopt through their system, told them about our current dog, house, how Joker1 had told us about the pup and we'd already agreed to take him, but didn't want to step on their toes. We were met with a 2-sentence e-mail that we could apply. My fiance then called and tried to explain the situation to no avail. We weren't even allowed to talk to the woman who had replied to our e-mail (she apparently only communicates through e-mail).

We were then told that:
A) We cannot adopt early
B) THEIR foster can choose to keep Fritz if they want
C) IF/when Fritz is available for adoption, they will not let us know
D) We can fill out an application like everyone else

So, there you go. I have a soft-spot for dog-rescues as we've gotten all of our dogs minus the last one from various rescues, but none have ever been as hard to work with as this one. We will still apply for Fritz if we get the chance, but I and Joker1 agree that now that he's already been "rescued" that there are others out there who will die while we dick around with this process.

I'm sure the rescue is more noble than they're coming off, but $350-$500 for adoption fees and them pulling this is a tough pill to swallow. I made the mistake of sharing the pictures/story of this group, Joker1's efforts, and Fritz with my fiance and now there's lots of crying.

This rescue isn't even close to the MOST difficult!
It is experiences like this that got me into rescue. Put good dogs with good people and on to the next one. I normally only try to place dogs that I have control of to avoid the bullshit but this guy was a goner if I didn't get him out. So I'll foster him for 2 weeks and he'll go to this rescue and live. I'm visiting another shelter tomorrow to snag a dog or 2.

I bailed "Nick" out today. Wow is he nice!!! So calm sweet and loving. I'm looking forward to training him. Now, who needs this dog?

He's filthy and his coat and skin are terrible. When found as a stray 2 weeks ago his paw pads were raw and bleeding. He'd probably been on the road for a while.
Whoever adopt this nice boy will get an autographed pic of Gene, the shelter worker for their wife.

These guys tagged along. I delivered them to a rescue in Cincinnati.
