I don't know for sure but I've worn helments and baseball caps my entire adolescent and adult life (40 yrs) and have a full head of hair.

No, having a genetic predisposition to your hair follicles being sensitive to testosterone levels after certain point in your life makes your bald.

I shave my head bald every few weeks, wear a motorcycle helmet, and if I wanted to I could grow a ridiculously thick head of hair tomorrow like nothing was wrong.

Hair is genetic. You either have it or you don't.

I once thought wearing a hat caused baldness, but then I realized it was just the beginning of male pattern baldness and the hat had nothing to do with it.

I used to wear a cranial 4-6 hours a day, a flight helmet up to 4 hours a day and a motorcycle helmet up to 9 hours a day and it never caused baldness.
Still not bald.

Middle age males exhibiting "male pattern baldness" and thinning hair,

Have much higher levels of testosterone than the general male population.
