Hmmm.... who has submarines in that region?

The planes, which are similar to the U.S. military’s P-3C Orion, are also equipped with infrared cameras which can detect heat waves, drones, and submarine periscopes.

So they're doing the same thing we do, the only difference being their country is actually close by.

Think War Plan Orange again.  We face the same logistical nightmare as did the Japanese in 1941.  It's one thing to move a fleet cross an ocean and quite another to keep it there.  Refrigerator ships, tankers, ammunition, repair ships, floating dry docks, tugs, lighters, etc.  Modernly we can have a lot of our ships serviced in Japan and perhaps even Australia, but the Chinese have the home town advantage.

If they are as effective as the US planes are, the subs will be safe.

Do the Chicoms planes detect F17s, B2s, air launched cruise missiles?

At this point I think it's as likely the Chicoms are going to be looking for Nork diesel subs.

F-17s are very easy to detect.  Both of them have been sitting in museums for decades now.

Both of which?

How much capability do you think Norks have? I'm thinking Iraq circa a couple of decades ago.

They leave that job to their HF radar.  What is an F17?
