Why does the paper insist the soldiers were "screaming"? Because their mouths were open? Some were, others were not.
Ridiculous. |
|
You need a safety vest to brush dirt off bones now? Geez, everyone is going to be required to wear those things outside at this rate.

Are they screaming or just dead and their mouth opened ? Pretty sure that happens to most of us when we die.

I looked at the photos carefully. I believe they were laughing, not screaming.

When we die, we go into rigor mortis and eventually the tetany relaxes and the mouth drops open.
That's why dead folks used to have a strip of cloth tying under their chin to keep their mouths shut. The ghost of Jacob Marley was drawn in Dickens' book this way. Talk about sensationalism. I'm surprised they didn't say they were practicing "deep throat training." |

These "journalists" are complete morons. 200,000 rubles in 1863 would be worth hundreds of millions of dollars in today's money. These idiots converted it per current exchange rate and got £2,500.

I'd have thought there'd have been more 'stuff' w the bodies. Metal, weapons or whatnot...
|
|
So are the Russians going to declare that "sacred land" and sue for it?
Or is it Spain that's supposed to claim the bodies because they were transporting coins? There used to be a standard joke for this... |

It'll be popular news in Russia I expect. |

1. That would have been a ton of money at that time.
2. As mentioned frequently the jaw opens as decomposition takes its toll. 3. They were probably vomiting or drinking because... well Russia. 4. That area has plenty of mass graves/battlefields besides this one. |
