Copperheads are just copper washed steel.

Now you leave copper in your barrel.

I remember using both and it seems like copperheads were better for some reason. With as cheap as BBs and pellets are, I'm surprised more don't look at air rifles as good SHTF guns for small game.

Do they still come in those little milk cartons?

As a kid, I didn't have much choice in BB's- they were Daisy generics or nuthin'.

As an adult, I prefer the Quicksilver's over Copperheads.

I have a couple .177 rifles and am planning on getting a .357 (minimum) air rifle soon.

I used whatever was available, so both though I did prefer copperheads.

To this day, I don't understand how it was possible, but any time I was out of BBs I could search my house and find enough to get through the day.

Even though I NEVER spilled any there would always be at least 10 or 20 in the corners or under the bed or on a rug or some where.

I know that doesn't seem like many, but if you were poor, you made BBs last. lol

Every shot had to count when killing birds.

Yeah all I had to do is get out the old Rainbow vacuum if I was out of BBs. I shot up phone books, GI Joes, all kinds of stuff in the house. BBs everywhere.

My mom would make me run the vacuum on Saturdays. I also worked on RC cars so the vacuum would get misc. tiny hardware along with the BBs.

I would dump out the Rainbow tank in the toilet, then flush, the metal stuff like screws wouldn't go down.

One time my mom said "When you get a house I'm gonna dump a bunch of screws and nails in your toilet then leave."

I only bought the Quicksilvers if they were out of Copperheads.

Small game?  Some of the hardcore air rifles will take deer and small bear.

Copperheads for me at first, only went to the non-copper-plated when I realized that the Copperheads didn't feed right in the semiauto CO2 1911 I had. They'd bind up in the magazine.

copperheads.  Wrekt some squirrels and birds with them.

First gun was a Benjamin Pellet gun so I never used BB's.

I bought a vintage Daisy 814 on gunbroker to relive my childhood and after two shots it broke. It won't hold air pressure enough to shoot. I'm a disappointed guy tonight.

I had one of those ten pumps as a kid and we all called it "'Ol Betsy". Me and my buddies killed hundreds of birds with it.

After the 814 broke I got mad and went to Walmart and picked up a Daisy 880S for $35. It came with a scope and made me not so sad.  I spent a few minutes shooting beer cans in the back yard before coming inside to drink beer and post on arfcom.

It is pictured below the 814.

I don't think I ever used anything other than Quicksilver BBs my entire childhood. Hell, at that time (1980s), it was the only type of BB that existed as far as I was concerned because that was all that was kept in stock around here. I wish I had a nickel for every one of those little plastic baggies or cardboard tubes of Quicksilver BBs I sent downrange as a kid.

Look up what kind of seals it has in it, sometimes they are cheap and relatively easy to replace.

Shot whatever was at hand in a Crossman ten pumper.
I killed all sorts of shit and wore that bb gun out.
My premium ammo was pellets.

When I ran out, I would break out the vacuum and go to work in my room. Shag carpet holds lots of spilled BBs.

It's best to put a new bag in before starting though. Found that out the first time.

Copperheads all the way.  Good ol days, go down to the hardware store to buy BBs, guns, ammo, or knives.  Back in the day it was the only place to get em besides the gun store.

I know that feeling. I had a ration of 5 pellets I'd bring to go hunting, and I could tell you exactly how many I had at any given time.
