RIP Steve.  I'm having a Macanudo Portofino.  He liked those or Montecristo.
You are not forgotten.

Y'all had some in common.  He was an army aviation crew chief IIRC back in the 70s

I spoke with him often, but we never met in person despite our relative close geographic proximity.

He sent me a handmade leather cross body shot shell satchel.  He appeared often in my bird hunting and shotgun threads.  The satchel is made by Holland & Holland and I have no idea how old it is, but it was hardly used when it arrived at me house.  These bags sell for 400+ euros.  I took it to Argentina twice and Africa once.  I've used it hunting grouse in Michigan and quail in Arizona.  It is one of my most prized earthly possessions.

I had to constantly talk him out of sending me a bottle of Jameson's

He was generous.

Steve and I talked helicopter stuff a few times.

I tried to get him to open up about his health issue (I walked in his shoes) but he
didn't want to go there for some reason even after telling me a bit
about it.

Miss you buddy.

He hinted at it with me and mentioned his brother had had a health problem.

I don't think we ever talked Army. We did talk Swiss C&R stuff and anything Montana.

He really liked to talk Montana.
